E82 19V579 Recall: Blower Motor Regulator

1st post. Please excuse any etiquette violations.

Background: AC/Heating fan stopped blowing.

Searched online and discovered shorted blower motor regulator (almost caused a fire). Contacted local parts department for part quote ($89ish) and they advised me that there was an open Recall for the problem.

Visited local dealer for fix, but BMW North America "doesn't have it in their system yet". Urged Service Manager to call BMWNA to authorize the fix.

Fixed (new regulator and wiring harness). No charge.

Moral of the story: the recall was released for our cars on 6Aug19—might not show "authorized" at your local dealer. Convince them to fix or risk a cabin fire.

Message me for questions.

Just took mine in for the recall and also had the tech look in to some drips I've been seeing on the garage floor.
He Found:
leaking oil filter gasket
leaking oil pan gasket
leaking valve cover gasket
leaking radiator hose fitting
So... somewhere around $4k+ for repairs for my 153k mile '11. I probably could get a new engine for that LOL!

Called to schedule my service appt for the recall. They told me it would take 4 HOURS.

Scheduled it for next Friday along with a loaner, we'll see how this goes. 4 Hours seems nuts for this, and they also said they don't do recall work on Saturdays.

Mine took slightly more than 2 hours, but I do not think they were working on it the whole time.

I was in and out of the place within three hours!

In that time, they managed to fix the recall issue and mess up my windows.

YMMV

Thanks BMW <3
