Almost a personal best...
Growing up in NYC and going to college in Providence, RI some years ago, I had many occasions to see how quickly I could get up there (184 miles, Merrit to I-95). Of course, there can be traffic (I-95 is 2 lanes up in northern CT and there are a lot of trucks), speed traps (especially in upstate CT and RI), and bad weather. In any case, in college, my best time was a 2:25 or so going up from NYC to Providence in my 300Z basically in the middle of the night. Now, going up should be faster because of traffic patterns (easier to get out of NYC than in) and so on. Anyway, I was up in Providence in the 1 over the weekend, and after dinner, I thought, well, let's see how fast I can get back and not have my license taken. I hit a lot of traffic, but pushed quite hard, and ended up with a 2:30. Conclusion, this car just rips, especially on parkways.

Oh, and one more thing -- people move out of the way FAST when you come up quickly behind them...especially when you flash your lights (which are like high powered spotlights)

Ha that's nothing. Too bad you are in the land of speed limits. There's a stretch of the autobahn I drive on, if I'm doing 160 kph= 100mph, I get passed by drivers doing 240 kph= 150 mph.
Just a few months until I order my 2009 135i. |

I once made it from lynchburg, va to dulles airport in 2.5 and Lynchburg to Raleigh in 2 flat...of course that means nothing if you don't know the area.
SPEED ON!

I'm jealous -- you don't have to deal with morons camping out in the left lane or two cars driving next to each other at the same speed, blocking the whole road.

Uh oh Tazio... You're starting to exhibit the behavior I described in your "Am I a Tool?" thread. It must be that personalized plate!
