Drove the 135i Convertible tonight (NJ)
The 2 at my dealer weren't even on the lot yet, they were still at the dealer's storage facility. My kind salesman drove me over to the storage facility with a dealer plate and told me to pick one. One was Graphite the other black, similarly equipped with Premium but neither had the sport package, both were automatics. Once I selected the gray the salesman said to enjoy the test drive and come back to the main dealership when I was all done, he said to take my time and make sure I hit the highway. I fired the car up (9 miles on the odometer) and went for a 1/2 hour drive on both local roads and the highway. I didn't want to abuse my privledges here since my salesman gave me the car by myself, plus I needed to get home since I was coming from work.
The visibility out the rear wasn't too bad, since I also have an S2000 the BMW was significantly better of course, the blind spots also weren't terrible. I read some issues about wind noise coming from the rear window but at 70 mph I thought things were pretty tight with minimal noise coming through the ragtop. Even without the sports package the 17 inch wheels rode pretty tight and its suspension doesn't absorb the bumps compared to a 335i coupe or 335i hardtop convertible. I also think the sports seats are much more comfortable, especially if your back is 40 years old or more (like mine). I do wish they had the aluminum interior trim option for the convertible but I'm assuming it gets too hot with the top down so they don't offer it. Now I just have to decide on a good color combination since I want the red interior (like my S2000). They had a 128i convertible in Montego Blue with a black top that looked pretty good, not a good match with red interior though since I need to go with a dark color like Monaco, Black or Graphite. Thoughts? ---Alex |

NYD:
Thx...you must be the first to drive a US spec 135i Conv. My 135i Vert was built on April 4th...currently in storage at the deliverying dealership bought and paid for...but I can't take delivery of it until May 31st here in Europe because of roll-out restrictions BMW USA has imposed on all US Spec 135i verts. |
