Do you know your VIN by heart?

I was checking to see if my baby has gotten on a ship yet...my wife sees me enter my VIN and ask,"Do you actually know your VIN by heart?" Haha. Of course I do. I wouldn't be a 1addict if I didn't. Who else is with me?

I check everyday even though I know I do not ship until the 24th... and that it takes 2 days for it to be updated.
And I ALREADY know when the ship gets to port.
It's pointless and repetitive and unavoidable, like any addiction.

Remember this and only this: The only digits you need to remember are the last 7 digits of your VIN. Nothing else matters to BMW when looking up your part. Last 7!

I know mine!

Don't know my VIN by heart, but after checking the status on the 1-800 # 3-4 times a day for a month back in March, I do know my production # by heart. I'd like half credit/shame.

Why would I need to know my VIN? By memory that is.

I ended up remembering my VIN because my car took so long to get a boat and I had to keep checking the WWL site at lease 3 times a day.

I suggest learning the last 7 digits of your VIN once you receive your vehicle. Parts ordering depends greatly on last 7. For example, NJ04574

I'd never learn a current car's VIN but Ferrari's used to be typically 4 digits. I had 9783 and 0010M. George

(also opted to get a 335i for now, will wait for the one series fevor to die down)

Uh, you owned the first 166 MM Spyder made in '49? I mean forget about the all-books-and-tool rolls '67 275 GTB/4 - you owned the first 166 MM?

This is sad.....I know my VIN number by heart, but I can't remember my tag number.
Selective memory I suppose.

Somehow working thru this addiction, I've memorized not only my VIN, but also my daughter's. I think it came about by entering both numbers on that stupid Wallenius site 49 times a day til our cars got on boats. I'm glad that addiction is over...now I just speed shine my car 49 times a day. jk.....

Nope. I call that stupid 800# a couple times a day and I can't even remember my production number most of the time.
