as the poll seems to show, build date doesn't have much to do with it. nothing special happens on my car at 1,500, but at 3,000 its pretty strong.

05/08 build no lag. I meen I know its a turbo and some times try to catch it 'off guard' to see if there is some lag and there is, really really minute but hey if i had no idea about the engine and turbo's I'd say it pulls like a V8 from 800rpm's + and really instant.

I have a July 08 build, and car feels fine to me. I do know that turbos need time to spin up to produce boost, especially 1 larger turbo. Two smaller turbos as found on the 135i will spool up quicker then a large one, but it is not instantanious.
So when if hit the fast pedal it goes, it does pick up steam above 3 K, but as mentioned it all feels normal to me based on the more rpm the faster the turbos spin, the more power they make, at 2 K rpm they are just not spinning as fast. You want lag try an 80 cc single 2 stroke motorcycle there is abolutely no one home until about 9.5 K rpm then blam! |

On mine (May build 29.2/V81) there is turbo lag, but if I quantify it, the "magnitude" is of 0.3-0.4 seconds, not more than this.
In addition, the lag is almost constan on the torque curve (ass.hole measurement performed in IV,V and VI). By the way, on high friction road, my car can't smoke the tires in first gear by a rolling start. FYI By using the car over over 3600ft altitude, the lag is way more noticeable. Bye. |
