Unfortunately, that sheet does not spec the type of steering boost.

FWIW, the BMWNA website specifically touts "Vehicle speed sensitive Electric Power Steering" under features of the Z4, but it is not mentioned at all for the 1 series. So, hopefully, we're getting the hydraulic boost for all 1ers.

Thanks for the pic, Hugo - good to see those little electrons swimming around in PS fluid reservoir! To answer the other question, do you know if the 128i steering is the same as your 135i?

In fairness to NuovTech, BMW has been known to make a typo now and then. The owner's manual for my boxer twin BMW motorcycle describes "an opposed 12 cylinder engine".

For some people, that's where the motor oil goes when the low level warning comes on.:iono:

Please don't put motor oil in your power steering reservoir. It requires Pentosin CHF11S.

Yes indeed - this group has found more than their fair share of them. And what did you do to try to get the missing 10 cylinders for your bike? ; -)

Maybe you know of a good lawyer willing to take on a class action lawsuit on a 25% contingency basis... meaning he gets 2.5 cylinders out of our settlement!

Beats me, I was just stating what BMW put into their brochure. Don't think it's a typo, was hoping someone here knew more about it? :iono:

Only 1 series with hydraulic power steering is the 135i.

The rest have electric power steering.

Here's an interesting thread on this issue:

http://stage.bmwcca.org/forum/showthread.php?t=390

Here's a quote from AutoZine.org:

"What a pity the (128i) is ruined by a numb steering feel, because it employs electrical steering assistance in the name of energy saving. In contrast, 135i is the only model in the 1-Series family to enjoy the natural feeling of hydraulic power steering."

NuovoTech - welcome to the world of conflicting BMW information. FWIW, all engine compartment pix of 128/135 show a hydraulic steering fluid reservoir.
