Trunk Won't Close
I went to close the truck last night and I got in the car and as I was driving away, the trunk open indicator came on. The truck was indeed open and I couldn't get it to shut and lock. I pressed down on the lid to force it to lock, but the warning light still comes on and when I arm the alarm, it doesn't beep and the clownnose flashes mulitple times. I'm going to try and take it to the dealer today...sucks!

Mine has done that 2x. The last time was about a month ago at the car wash. I was driving away, when the Trunk Open indicator came on. I couldn't close the trunk, as I pushed, and then later slammed the lid down, it would just bounce back up. I locked and unlocked the car several times with the "keyfob", and then I was able to gently close the trunk. Try this.

Sounds similar to what happens to me, except I've noticed it before I drive off. The drunk doesn't really latch, and can be re-opened without hitting the trunk release. The only way I've gotten it to latch is to first hit the inside open-trunk button (doing it on the fob doesnt seem to work) and then shutting the trunk again. It appears to be related to cold temperatures outside. If its close to freezing it seems OK, but if its any colder then it happens almost everytime. Asked the dealer to look at it last time I was in, but they didn't do anything.

Happened to me this weekend too. I tried it 2 times before i got it to close, I hit the inside trunk open button and went to to close the trunk and it worked.
I'm not even gonna bother to bring it to the dealer this time.

It happened to me this morning...I thought I broke something since I had a mound of snow on top of the trunk. I hit the trunk release button on the inside of the trunk after slamming it about 2 dozen times and it finally closed...

I had the same problem last week. My trunk/boot wouldn't "catch" when I closed it. This happened during the day, when it was very hot (around 29 deg. C), so I doubt if it's related to cold weather.
This is what I did: 1. Tried to lock and unlock the boot/trunk using the remote control, more than 10 times. No luck. 2. Tried to lock and unlock the boot/trunk using the "boot/trunk release" button, more than 10 times. No luck. 3. Locked and unlocked the whole car, several times. No luck. 4. Started the car with the keyfob (I have Comfort Access), to see if this would reset something. No luck still. 5. Manually forced the latch to lock while the boot/trunk was open. Now, the boot couldn't close at all, as it got blocked. 6. Locked an unlocked the car. This unlocked the boot, but it couldn't catch still. I was back to the original problem  . 7. At this time, I was about to drive to the BMW dealership because it was about 300 meters away. As a last resort, I pressed the "boot release" button for about 10 seconds. After that, I tried to close the boot, and it closed perfectly . NOTE: - I'm not sure if this was just a co-incidence or the 10 or more seconds press did reset something . - I have booked my car in for CIP 20 update on Thursday to solve about 8 issues that I have experienced since taking delivery.... and when I reported this problem, the Service Advisor said it will be sorted out by the software update. He seemed sure about it. It's a pity that I can't test this afterwards.

I have an appointment for this Friday(the soonest I could get a loaner). While it's in there, they are also going to look into the following items:
- dimming of the climate control display that has happened a few times - my HVAC story - My car has also developed a slight case of the front *shimmy* - I kissed the corner of my rear bumper against a parking post awhile back, having BMW fix it. Danny

To me, these problems are not that big of a deal. While my Hondas never gave me any of these kinds of problems, they never gave me the kind of smile I get from driving my E90! Danny

If it makes you feel any better I just discovered that the rear passenger door cannot be opened from the inside. The care is 3 days old! It's a great start....

If you open the rear door, theres a switch on the side of the door that you might have to adjust in order to open the door from the inside. It's a child safety feature.

"The latch was in the close position, preventing it from closing. I simply pushed the trunk button and wala it closed....." Seemed to be a smartass remark to me, as if I couldn't figure out the latch was stuck in the closed position... Danny

I just had the same problem.
15 degrees Centigrade so weather isn't a problem I just left the car was (like another post above... Coincidence?) I couldn't manually force the lock to the lock-position with the boot open and none of the boot release buttons worked. I gave it 5 minutes before I locked and unlocked the car. Immediately held the boot release on the key fob and I heard 4 or 5 repeated efforts from the solenoid trying to unlock the boot. That did the trick. Must be a bit of a software bug. Perhaps the car wash dude was holding the release button as he shit the lid?

I hav a 2011 335i with CA about a week ago my trunk started acting up. When i open it with the key in my pocket it sounds the alarm didn't do this before. Then i notice it will open without the key in my pocket or without me pressing the trunk button on the key fob. The only time it doesn't sound the alarm is when i physically use the button in the key and not the trunk latch. Can anyone shed some light on this?
