MTEC Brake discs

Anyone used them? I'm looking at the drilled and grooved ones.

Thanks

Hi,

I know this is a old thread, but it still has no answer.

Anyone tested them? Especially on a 135i (N54) ?

I am doing my research because i have to buy front & rear discs (my genuine BMW discs are now making a lot of difference squeaking noises while braking, and sometimes it stays persistent for a few seconds while rolling at low speed)

4 Mtec drilled/grooved discs are less than 300EUR but i wonder if the quality is correct ?
About the same price as OEM, BMW genuine are very expensive.

I like the look because it's grooved and drilled.

My idea was to combine them with OEM pads (bosch or ferodo)

Should i stick with OEM discs (like bosch or something else) ?
Should i stick with genuine BMW ?

My main goal is to have a not noisy braking, and my second goal is the good looking of the brake (drilled).

Any help appreciated.

OEM disc material is of generally a much higher grade than many aftermarket "cheap" discs. I don't know about MTEC specifically as we don't get those where I am, but I did buy the cheap "Dura" rotors that are still 2 piece like the OEM 135 discs (with the aluminum hat), and they are drilled + slotted so the "look nice".

I paired them with quality pads (Stoptech street sport), but I've unfortunately had pad deposit issues on the rotors almost immediately after installation. So I have light pulsing of the brake pedal now at certain speeds, and I regret going for the cheap discs.

I'd recommend sticking to a better know brand like Pagid, Brembo, Zimmerman, or OEM.

Thank, i appreciate your answer. I think MTEC is probably same quality as your DURA old discs.

I was browsing, and just found this :

https://www.ebay.com/itm/BREMBO-BREM...2/164023780686

It's 500EUR , front & rear, discs + pads & wear sensors and brembo performance (drilled slotted)

I believe it's a good offer.

Squeaking isn't really caused by the rotor FYI. It's generally vibrations of the pad against the caliper and piston. You can try bedding the brakes. If that doesn't work, you can take the pads off and apply caliper grease to contact points.

Thanks

Yes, i will measure the thickness of rotors first to see if i am still above minimal specs.
