For some strange reason BMW doesn't really get the notion of short shifter. When they purport to offer one it feels like other manufacturers long throw.
On the other hand VW does understand this. I had an early GTI that had one of the sweetest OEM shifters I have ever encountered. To me all BMW shifters feel like a knob at the end of a broomstick. |

BMW doesn't put the //M logo on things for aesthetics. The 135i has a performance short shifter. If you don't like the feel of it, your more than welcome to replace it. But it is a M shifter! So I don't know how much better an aftermarket will do. Perhaps a meaty shift knob is all that is called for? |

I'm going to do the BMW performance lever arm and the ZHP 6oz knob with a CDV... should be good
