TPM's Inactive
Recently weathered been fluctuating from really cold to warm, received the TPM inactive error. Went to my local mavis to have the tech figure out which one was dead..
Turns out my rear drivers side sensor was dead. (So one was dead!) Ordered a new one and when I go to replace it at my local shop we get readings from each tire. Still decided to replace that specific TPM. Drove around and tried resetting the TPMs still a TPM inactive error!!!! I click reset in IDrive and nothing happens. Don't like this error. Please someone send me your knowledge! I would be pissed if I didn't need to get the TPM and it's the logic board for the TPM system in the trunk. |

Did they inadvertently put a newer sensor in? I get that error on the snow tires/wheels that I took off my '08 - they do not work on the '13 (and I suspect vice versa).

Just based on your comment of "warm to cold", that's when batteries tend to die. The TPM in the wheel just has a small battery and they do die out. If it's an '08 and this is the first time replacing then you made it a good long time. My '09 ones went about 5 years in and I had to replace them. I think they say the sensors last 5-7 years typically but obviously you can get longer or shorter life out of them. If the other sensors are new, I don't know what else to tell you but hit the reset and drive for a mile and they should sync again.

Have you reset it through the stalk on the steering column? Start the car.
Push the button, with the horizontal ridges in the lever, up until it gets to: If you press the "BC" button at the end of the stalk it will say "active" or perhaps "inactive" in your case. Just press and hold the "BC" button at the end of the stalk until it finally comes up with "resetting" and then you drive off. After about a mile or less, mine reset and the light goes away. Other than that, as the other poster mentioned you may have a hardware failure somewhere else. |

Just want to confirm I had the right TPM installed.
The right clip to the box in the right fender was unattached from when the suspension was done. Sprayed some cleaner on the clip and re-attached! Finally no more light! |

It's not outside. You will be able to see it when you remove the liner. There will be a box attached to the inside of it. See the picture I took above.
