Be mindful that I have a 2009 car, manual sport seats with power bolstering, there may have been changes since. I don't think it matters in which order you conduct the coding, better to let it throw codes to check in INPA, code out in the VO, check codes, rinse and repeat.
To confirm - you coded the AIRBAG module, then unplugged your seats and swapped? So there was not an airbag light on before or after?

Also - can you confirm the exact codes that you changed? it's tough to compare those two lists back to back.

Thanks,
Mark

I ran with the airbag lights and codes on for a few months before coding out the various features. As did my friend's 09 335xi before I did the coding for him. He has full power heated seats and active headrests, and I have neither (just sport power bolsters).

I sorta prefer to not do the coding first so I can see what codes it would throw in INPA, and disable only lines related to the faults and nothing more. I heard about the concerns about only being able to clear faults under a certain condition (while all the harnesses were attached?), I didn't experience that.

Following features I disabled:
OC3_1
SIDEBAG_LINKS_1
SIDEBAG_RECHTS_1
GK/OC3/POL
SPSBF_1
SBE1_1_CD
SPSF_1_CD

AKS lines should be disabled if active, GURTKONTAKT/GURTSTRAFFER stuff is related to the belt tensioner if you aren't using it. Anything else that shows up just check INPA for the code, break out google translator and play by ear.

Awesome, thank you that's very helpful. I have also heard several people talk about having to only be able to do certain things in certain orders. I am going to retain the stock seatbelt tensioners so just need to eliminate the occupancy sensor, seat airbags, and any other related items. (Mine are uber basic manual seats so I am assuming most everything else will already be set to not active in my 128).

Will report back, thanks!

What do you guys think of the Recaro CS? How would it compare to a fiberglass seat on the track? The standard seat definitely needs improvement but I'm not sure I want to go all out with a half cage etc.

@ninjadog Those seats look nice but lack a pass through on the bottom for a 5-6 point harness. I'm wanting to upgrade to a 5pt harness but I currently drive to and from the track and back roads, etc. I was considering something like as OMP has a compromise with a 5 point slot- definite upgrade from the stock Sport seats, kind of similar to those Renault seats but heavier and cheaper most likely.

Anyone here running both stock seat belts AND harnesses? I don't want 5 points with no head restraint in driving around in soccer mom-ville.

I'm also a bigger guy so I need to wedge an XL seat in there...

I'm cheap but I run bimarco seats, FIA certified and real cheap they're light and have a fiberglass shell. ~$300ish.

They're fairly popular in The EU and I love mine, I was running a Sparco Evo previously but didn't really like the Halo setup since I street drove the car occasionally.

I have a E92, but come across this thread!

I'm 6'7 with a 40" waist and need to get my seat 2-3" lower if possible!

Can anyone reccomend a seat to get me this low and fit my width?

I dont need a 6pt harness, so harness hole height isnt a priority but it would be nice to have the possibility of fitting a harness in future..

Damn confusing trying to find the right seat...

Ive got vac floor plates, was looking at new (but in storage for 4 years) sparco EVO III, but have found out it wont fit in the E92...

Bimmergeeks ProTools is a very simple approach to coding out the features that are removed when you remove the original seats. ProTools runs on an Android device and interfaces either by cable or Bluetooth.

Top Menu:

Name: A Top Menu.jpg
Views: 3145
Size: 146.3 KB

Choose "Chassis"

Name: D Chassis.jpg
Views: 3171
Size: 148.1 KB

Choose "DSC - ABS"

Name: D1 DSC-ABS.jpg
Views: 3228
Size: 147.0 KB

Choose "Coding" and you will find all the required items. In my case, coding out the following was needed to remove manual sport seats:
  • ProTools Description (Parameter)
  • Seatbelt Warning Master (CC_GURTWARNUNG_1)
  • Passenger Seatbelt Warning (SBR_BEIFAHRER_1)
  • Passenger Seatbelt Warning 2 (SBR_PREWARNING_BF_MRS)
  • Seatbelt Warning Driver (SBR_FAHRER_1)
  • Driver Seatbelt Warning 2 (SBR_PREWARNING_FA_MRS)
  • Seat Mat Sensor (OC3_1)
  • Passenger Seat Mat 2 (GK_OC3_POL)
  • Driver Seat Position Sensor (SPSF_1_CD)
  • Driver Seatbelt Contact (GURTKONTAKT_FAHRER_1)
  • Driver Seatbelt Tensioner (GURTSTRAFFER_FAHRER_2)
  • Left Side Airbag (SIDEBAG_LINKS_1)
  • Passenger Seat Position Sensor (SPSBF_1)
  • Passenger Seatbelt Contact (GURTKONTAKT_BEIFAHRER_1)
  • Passenger Seatbelt Tensioner (GURTSTRAFFER_BEIFAHRER_2)
  • Right Side Airbag (SIDEBAG_RECHTS_1)
As a practical matter, remove the seats then check for errors. Then code "not active" the parameter associated with each error.

How much space is left on the sides, enough space for the wide seat? I need the wider seat for my wider ass.

Thank you for your reply.
I’m 6’1 with roughly 40” waist.

The car is going to be 90% and although being planted and having a good seat is important my main reason for switching is weight reduction.

I think I’m going to go with Braum elites for now. When I start making some serious power I’m going to reevaluate and I’ll probably end up using these.

Thanks again for the reply.

Thanks! I used this list to code out my lights. Worked perfect using NCSExpert.

Just put in Bride reps a few months ago. Very tight fitting seats. I see so many posts of larger people trying to find well fitting seats but no one talking about seats that fit someone smaller. I tried several seats and they were all just too big. Shoulder height was too high, legs width too wide, shoulder width too wide, etc. The Bride seats are snug and shoulder height is perfect for someone around 5'7" 31" waist 140lbs. I did not use the "max low" brackets. I used regular "long" side mounts, dual locking sliders, and a custom base made of stamped steel square tubing.

Seats are crazy light at like 7lbs. With side mounts, sliders, base, and 10.9 SS hardware I ended up at at ~25lbs per seat. Stock heat+power+lumbar seats were 67lbs. A pretty damn good savings of ~84lbs. The sliders make the car much more DD friendly since the seats are fixed back. I can still squeeze stuff into the back seat.

Figured I would post here instead of starting a new thread.

What race seats are people able to get to fit in the 1er?

Looking for modern track seats with proper head restraints, and will be installing a pair for taking passengers for laps.

Hoping something like the Sparco PRO ADV QRT can fit in there.

https://www.sparcousa.com/product/pr...-2020#readmore

Door panels and all interior trim will be removed.

I've been looking into this more too. I really like Racetech seats from the second post, the RT4009W, which is 590mm wide at the shoulder wings which Focusedintntions says have about 2mm to the door card in his install thread (https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=791693). So it seems like that is a good limit to seat width for the E82, which is a shame because the new Racetech RT4100 is even wider at the shoulders.

Without the door panels you'll have way more room. Sparco lists the PRO ADV at 630mm so 20mm of that would stick past the door card location roughly. It also can depend on how close you can mount the seat to the transmission tunnel.

Do you mind sharing your size and how you fit? I am 6' 188lbs and I think the circuit may be too tight for me

Ok, sounds like I will be slightly too big. OG is 2.5 hours away, trying to find somewhere in philly but it seems like there isn't much closer

I have the OMP WRC-R in mine, fit fine with the door panels still on. I think they have a halo version that's very similar. With the door panels off I'd think you could get just about anything in there.
