New car coming got a couple questions on cleaning

Does the car need a wax when it comes in?

My car comes in like a month

And what are the best things and products to buy for it.

I seen alot megulars stuff then theres mothers.

Whats the best lambswool?
Should i even buy microfiber?

And should i get some sort of water add on part for the hose to make water spray different?

And last whats best wax should i get?

Ill be cleaning at home i want to buy and have everything before it comes in im willing to spend up to 300

Regardless of what's done beforehand I'd leave the plastic on the car and bring it directly to a good detailer.

And similar to Adam, I've built up a great cache of detailing products over several years. There's no "best" product....you need to go on sites like autopia and educate yourself.

I would claybar the car before waxing.

+1 on all above, except for headlight lens polish. I don't wanna rub away the uv coating on there

First thing you do should be a wash and then a paint sealant. I use Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze. That stuff is rock solid. Wait a day, then follow with a nice carnuba wax for that soft glow. Then apply a detailer spray. I use Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer. It has some technology in it that creates a high level of surface tension that really beads water real well. Wait till you see the results. I have been doing this same set up for years.

And microfiber for everything!

I wouldn't bother with any paint protection before you decontaminate that paint.

At the very least, clay bar the paint to pull out all the dirt from shipping. Also, use a product such as iron-x to pull out all the rail dust.

The first detail once you pick up the car is very important. The paint will be in excellent shape, but there will be all kind of contaminants from the shipping process. Get those contaminants off the paint first, then move on with spoiling your new baby

Mine came without any kind of wax on it, but I still did a Dawn wash and then Zaino system. The stuff is super easy to put on and really lasts. Plus, the Z-6 cleaner spray is great for a quick cleanup when you don't have time for a full wash with the same results. The more Zaino layers you apply, the longer the protection and deeper the shine. I've also got their leather cleaner and I'm happy with it so far.

Before this, I've used Meguiars stuff exclusively and it took a lot longer to apply and lasted a fraction of the time. Zaino is more $$ to be sure, but totally worth it imo. Only downside is that you can only buy it online, but their shipping is only a couple days and they have fantastic customer service.

UV coating is applied to all headlights to prevent them from hazing/yellowing over some years.

If you put a lens polish on there it will rub away some of it and decrease its life.

I may be late but I thought that it was better not to wax a new care for a few months for letting time to the paint to cure completely?

Already cured for a month by default due to transit time

First time I ever heard of that... Does that mean I shouldn't have used Powerlock on them?

Great thread, thanks for all the advice! Perfect timing since I just picked up a 2013 Jet Black 135i yesterday, coming from a previous Metallic Black MINI S, I was looking for info to prepare for my first wash.

Well powerlock is purely a sealant. So no, you are totally fine. I am just speaking from experience with my gti and other family member's cars. My dad was big into the headlight polish/sealant. not anymore lol

Not sure to be honest. It was a car they had in storage and the sales guy said nothing about it.

Depends on how it's delivered, from factory it doesn't get any wax but it's not 'deliverable' either; so it will always get some cleaning/detailing, it just depends on what you agreed on with the dealer. Bear in mind that a full detail in dealers terms is in most cases nowhere near a full detail in detailers terms.

Those are known brands, but certainly not the only good brands out there. I use various products from the following brands: Poorboys World, Dodo Juice, Monello and some more; no one brand is the best

Use a washmitt, watch videos online how to use the mitts. The most important thing is how you use the mitt and a 2-bucket system.

Get yourself some microfiber cloths to, you cannot have to much of those!

No, use no attachments at all. Best is to use the biggest, as in 'has the most volume in a single jet', jet you can get; practically this usually means just use a cut end of a garden hose. This is also how it's possible to dry your whole car with a single drying cloth.

There is no 'best' wax. Just get one that easy to buff out to get started. First make a choice between liquid or past wax. Also decide if you like beading of sheeting properties better and then make a choice for wax.
Also watch some video's on how to apply it properly. And when you think you're using to little, take a 5th of that and you're probably still using to much Everything you buff out is excess wax.

ps for pastes; get yourself a panel pot first! Don't let the name fool you, one pot is enough to wax your whole car a few times; that's more than enough to get started and see if you still like it after you've put in some elbow grease

You can have some really nice products for that kind of money; start with basics like wasmitt, microfibercloths, drying towel. Supplement that with sample kits for shampoo, a detail spray and maybe wax. Don't be tempted to buy large quantities until you know what you want.

That's not true for modern factory coated cars, they do however warn for polishing. Bodyshop painted is a whole different story.
