The ultimate 1M transmission poll 2
Would you buy this car if the only transmission option is M_DCT and no Manual is available?
-------- For anyone who is getting caught up on 1M news - this poll is for a laugh only, the 1M is almost certainly going to be a 6 speed manual on release. Bit of a piss-take on the earlier thread, but will be interesting to see how this one turns out and what sort of assumptions we can make about the value of a car aside from it's transmission. Not that it counts for much, but I love manual driving - that said, it's the Only thing I know. Would I buy the 1M if it had flappy paddles on it only - yes I would, at the drop of a hat. Maybe I'd regret it later, maybe I'd grow to love flappy paddles - but I would still buy the 1M.

Interestingly, on the 2011 135, the manual gets better fuel economy. According to www.fueleconomy.gov, which reflects official EPA numbers, the manual gets 20 city/28 hwy, while the DCT gets 18 city/25 hwy. I was shocked when I saw that. Any idea why the 7sp DCT is less fuel efficient than the 6mt, at least on the EPA tests?

I like the idea of an M-DCT, but if it only came with a manual would only be bringing M back to its roots, which is what I think the 1 M Coupe is all about, minus the fact that it is most definitely going to be a forced induction motor, I think a supercharged 3.0L would have personally been more interesting. I don't know how to drive manual, except for a few days driving Mercedes buses out in Afghanistan, but I tell you what, I wanted to drive manual now after that little experience and though it would be hard, I'd learn to drive it if it were the only option for the 1M Coupe, or current E9X M3s.
