These things protrude so much it's blocking the driver's view.

The factory idrive fits much better... Sure it lacks the bells and whistles, but at least it's unobtrusive

Thats the reason why i`m working on making a Case to mount it into the midde fan grill

but beware this is alot work and requires also an F20 center console too (between the seats)

F20 center console fits in an E82? Got any pictures? I'd like to do that for cosmetic reasons maybe

The good side, it doesn`t really require modification at the car itself.
The down side, it requries heavy modification (cutting) into the F20 console parts, and a couple of 3D printed parts.

So it`s possible but alot of work, you need at least 2 consols, one for prototyping, and the second one to get a clean part.

The Idrive Controller is the Original E-Series controller NOT an F Series controller with an USB touchpad for the Android navigation system on top.

It`s also a tight fit of the gearshift, on my 118d the 5th and 6th gear are very close to the frame.
so depending on a different gear shift (different engine) it may not have enough space.

My car is a E87, but should be identical to E82.

Hi guys.. im from the e85 side... I'm actually looking at this kit to retrofit my e85..

on ali express, there are tons of these sellers.. so this works well if you have the factory no nav option.. requires cutting of dash.
There are several different model, the 8core qualcomm is probably the best and latest one. has more memory, they are all similarly priced around 400, over 500 is a rip. Also you may need to pay import duty/tax on these.

Also on 11/11 they got some promotion where lots of these android are going on discount..

I'm looking for some radio pin out info.. E87 radio uses these quad lock as well ? ie like the link below.

Yes it`s also using the Quadlock, Pinout is pretty similar to every E 6/7/8/9 Series car of 2000`s years.

i also have a bimmerdroid system

I got a system from Aliexpress before, but it was absolute garbage. No support, everything broke within a few weeks. Poor sound quality.

been using Bimmerdroid for around 1 year now.

I am a dutchie and they recently started selling through europe. maybe that is why you have not heard from them
