Also, I can almost guarantee you're losing time going that wide at the exit of T1 - something to keep in mind maybe.
Final drive. You aren't wrong on t1. I do it better the following 2 laps but I'm sure there is even more time to gain cleaning it up

I figured as much, but was intrigued if you were thinking trans related. Shorting final drive will make a big difference if you're still using the stock 3.23.

Have any recommendations? I'm torn between 2.73 and 2.91

I assume you meant 3.73 and 3.91? Lower number = longer gearing.

You seem to visit a lot of different tracks, so that can make choosing gearing a bit trickier. That said, I don't think you drive this car much/at all on the street, so I'd lean towards a 3.91 personally. Especially given it's a 6 speed in these cars. I had a 3.91 in my E36 race car, and with the 5 speed and at certain track I'd be topping out in 5th gear. You wouldn't have that problem with the 6 speed though and the extra gearing advantage of the 3.91 vs. the 3.73 would be worth it in my opinion. I believe they are the same price too, so it's hard to say no to the 3.91.

Haha yeah sorry I meant 3. So I was set on 3.91 for a while until it looked like I would be caught in an awkward spot for shifting at a few tracks. Need to do more research over winter.

Ya, that's is the one issue with short(er) gearing. Check out the gearing calculator on Diffsonline to help you make a final decision, it helped me.

Will do. I have a gearing call that shows speed vs rpm and I've been going through that and reviewing my data

Car is back from getting caged! Work was done at Piper Motorsports in VA and I am super happy with how it came out. Had them do fire suppression, gut the front doors and remove the windows, a door net, and a dead pedal as well. The car weighed 2920 with me in the car before it left for the cage, I will post up once I get back on the scales for the weight after. I still have a full size battery and the AC so I am hoping to get back down to the low 2900s but that is optimistic.

Looks great. Really well fit.

I see you still have the full wire harness. There's about 40lbs of wire and crap you could strip out without affecting functionality.

ya i got scared lol but now that the airbags are completely removed a feel a bit better about it. The plan was to do it before the cage but I was worried I would mess something up and not be able to drive the car to the fabricator. Now that it is done I want to try to tackle it again.

So I have a question about removing the wires. Now that everything is plugged, is it safe to trace back the wires and just cut them as far back as I can? There isn't some weird loop inside the harnesses or anything right?

Pretty much. Just careful for the PT CAN wires on the passengers side. Cut those, and all hell breaks loose. Otherwise, just take your time and check things periodically and it should be alright. There's a safe 15-20lbs of wiring to remove - at least it was like the on the E92 and the wiring for the E82 is very similar.

I'd suggest buying a Bently E9X manual, or finding a PDF online. They have the wiring diagrams for the car and it notes which are the PT CAN wires. It was accurate for my M3 and the M3 wasn't included in the book. Pretty sure it's the same for all E9X and E8X.

Send me a PM and I can try and find it for you in mine.

Thanks a lot, I have the Bentley manual for the e90 I'm pretty sure but I may pm you if I need help. I have the wiring diagrams for a 2013 bmw 128 so I should have everything I need, understanding it and knowing what to look for is the hard part lol

Designed and 3D printed mounts for my stock glass windows so I can keep them in while traveling or if it rains. Really happy with how they came out and after my first test drive they didn't budge.

Um, yes and no. There are a lot of power wires, ground wires, lighting, signals that go to multiple modules, etc. The best bet is to unwrap and follow things back to where they go and depin/snip at the source. That big ABG harness is almost completely removable all the way back to the airbags/sensors. The audio is all it's own harness you can just yank out all together, same with most of the seat wires, and the roof module.

It's a labor of love but take your time, do it right and you'll have a factory quality harness with all the extras removed.

PT-CAN is red and blue/red twisted pair.

was just talking to a buddy who did this and that is my plan. I will tackle the audio this weekend as you said its on its own harness so it should be easy to kick start me. I guess next would be the ABG harness. Thanks for all the help.

Alright since i haven't been able to find this anywhere, the official numbers for AC weight is here! Compressor/condenser/all the lines come in at 19lbs! I'll take! Also added fancy headlights weight, hood latch, and speaker/door wires.

It seems like once you get started on the weight reduction, the sky is the limit. It'd be running around thinking - "haha, I don't need this to race".

Cool project, thank you very much for the pictures and such for the rest of us to share in it.

Phloozy, how much more weight can you drop from the car before you hit your minimum? Or are you already there and want to add ballast to a specific area?

When does your season start this year?
