It's a power to weight class so realistically I could get as low as I want so long as I have the power to match (lowest would be 2750 before taking other hits) My current plan though is to install an N54 intake manifold which I have been working on for the last few weeks and then see what power I make and build off that. My thought is I'll make around 235 average hp and that puts me at a goal of 2950 with driver.

Using the N54 manifold to make more power in general, or have a more favorable power band that goes up to 7500rpm (or more?)

Frees up space in the engine bay as well for an accusump, if you felt it necessary.

You going to VIR in March?

Plan is for 7200 RPM right now. Unsure if I feel safe going higher for long. March is going to be too early for me to travel. I am hoping to do 1 VIR event this year though.

Hey Phloozy, awesome build and impressive times around Watkin's Glen! Do you run any modifications to your oil pan or an accusump to deal with lateral load?

Thanks! No oil pan mods and it seems to not be an issue but I am not really tracking pressure. I may start though.

I havent updated this in a while but the car has had many updates over the winter. I installed an N54 intake manifold along with the n54 throttle body with a silicone inlet to a eurobox intake. It was tuned by StageFP remotely andit now makes 241whp. For NASA TT5 I am now running 231 average horsepower and the car weighs 2990 with a bit over a 1/4 tank of gas and me in it.

Also as of a few weeks ago went under the knife and am now running 17x10 +25 apex wheels under flares. I had to trim the flares a little short to fit NASA rules. Also won my first NASA TT event at NJMP.

Oh I also 3d printed fog light deletes and brake ducting. A lot has changed in the last few months and am excited to get it back out.

Here is a video from the recent NJMP event

Car looks fantastic, congrats on the win. What size tires are you running on the 17x10s?

How do you like the N54 manifold? Does it pull more linearly to redline?

Oh right posting the dyno would be nice haha. The n54 is great and pulls all thee way to my 7300 redline. I am still running 255/40/17 maxxis RC-1 but they have pretty soft sidewalls so I am hoping this helps a little.

So a lot to unpack here. I jsut got back from NASA TT at PittRace. I won day 1 and day 2 and tied the track record to the thousandth with a 1:56.816 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand blew my engine on the following lap. Going to dig into it more and get some data but all I know right now is there was an over rev to 7800, the oil was running pretty hot at 280 degrees and it seems like a broke a rod bolt.

The other thing to watch is the rev match downshifts. The sound is from the foot cam and you can hear the car will not rev match under hard braking, its super frustrating....

Oh man, that 7800rpm overrev was painful, sorry to see that happen. You going to take some time to inspect and formulate a plan or already planning to toss a new motor in so you can get back out there?

Not taking a throttle input during hard braking is so distracting when you get in the groove on track, it's really frustrating.

Congrats on the wins, love seeing a 128 out there racking them up.

Both! I'm going to do my best to get back out there but want to figure out what else went wrong as best as possible so it doesn't happen again. I need to figure out who I need to talk to about this rev match thing, there must be someone on this earth who knows a solution.

Have you coded off all the nannies? I don't know the specifics but I beleive even with the TC off the car is still modulating some things that may be screwing up your rev matching.

Congrats and oof. The rev match thing is definitely a DME thing where it's thinking you're trying to panic stop and the car is trying to accelerate. Thanks Toyota.

Someone that knows the DME software is going to have to track down where that is in the DME logic and flip it off. I don't know who knows the N52 that well, maybe try asking race teams? Bimmerworld, Turner, etc? They probably all run/ran stand-alones but you never know. There was definitely an old Bimmerworld E92 at the Glen last year with an N52 in it.

HQ Autosport and Thunderbunny Racing both currently run 128s, there's a chance they have dealt with the rev match issue.

Back in the day Mitchum Motorsport had a build thread where they talked about the 128s they were running in Grand-Am. In one of the posts they mention having an engine program with Dinan, so I'd imagine Dinan would have provided the tuning as well as the engine build. But, like Amg mentioned, not sure if they ran the stock DME or standalone.

Most of the N52-powered pro-caliber cars I'm aware of all ran Motec standalone. Mitchum, Bimmerworld, etc. all used standalone. I would think your best bet is to reach out to companies like Dinan, Epic, maybe even Evolve across the pond and see who might have a solution.

Do other E9x cars have the same issue like 335i or M3? Plenty of stock DME E9x M3s running around on track but I've never heard of this issue except on here.

And we are back!! Junk yard engine feels strong and oil pan is baffled. Hopefully that solves any future issues. Shake down event happening at the end of September.

Nice, any pics or details about the oil pan baffle? Custom piece or an adapted VAC baffle?
