MSN UK - First of the UK Press Drives - "BMW's best cult car in years"

The MSN Cars verdict

The BMW 1 Series M Coupé is a blast from the past. Organic, pure, simple and immensely likeable, it's an honest car that drivers will adore.

It looks like no other, is extremely fast, gives driving sensations from BMW M's iconic history - and is a sure-fire bet to become a modern classic. BMW's best cult car in years? You bet.
Same white 1M which I saw at BMW GB HQ a couple of weeks ago, thats why they pulled it!

Good find Mark.

Great review, BMW couldn't have written better themselves.

"Some might find it too stiff, garish and intense: the 1 M Coupé isn't for everyone, and how we praise BMW for making it so!"

GBP 40020,-- is that the base price?

thanks to our ridiculous taxes i am paying (converted) GBP 60737,-- for the car

Power comes from the twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six that's used for the Z4 sDrive 35iS rather than the supercharged 3.0-litre in the M3.

Since when has the M3 ever been supercharged?

Interesting that they claim only 300 of the 450 going to the UK are spoken for, meaning there are still 150 available.

Another point for the 1M. It's crazy how before the 1M was officially released, many were complaining how it's not true to the M badge saying it lacked this and that and BMW took shortcuts...

If that's the case, then its fair to say the Audi RS3 won the title race in terms of demand.

I would have thought that 5-10% of the overall UK allocation would be a more realistic considering that were supposed to be in recession.

I think someone must have recently got out of an Audi S4 test drive and got confused during the write up

No he said similar, not same. They are of course not identical. It does claim same suspension design

Good thing about that, you will have until next years shipment to mull it over and let BMW iron out the problems
