Thanks for the clips! it sounds really mean. I'm waiting on the CP-E downpipes before I make any decisions, but they are starting to top my list.

Honestly, all of the downpipes out there are going to change the sound of a cat-back about the same, but you will have to decide between catted and catless. I do feel that the cp-e pipes have the nicest design as-of yet and am very anxious for them to be released.

And I really think you should pull the trigger on this exhaust... I spent a lot of time making my decision and feel that both the design AND sound is the best out there.

Same for me. I'm waiting to see their pipes and then will probably get the whole system installed.

I've seen the cast prototypes and they're awesome. With the bellmouth cast, fitment will be superb.

One thing I really like about CP-E is how they give real scientific reasoning to their design, and are willing to explain it to us. Instead of them saying "we do it this way because it is best", they explain their design through scientific measures which allow us to see why it is the best. That gives me much more confidence in their products.

Yeah that's the reason I've been waiting. They are the only company on these forums that have ever been able to break down the science of it all. Everybody else just takes concepts that other people have created and either copies, or makes something similar.

I've had mine on for about 5 months now and have the RR catless downpipes. I've had no issues and the sound is truly intoxicating...I've seen and heard other exhausts up close and personal and not seen anything I like any better.

More Info Comparing 3 inch exhaust to dual

For anyone that is interested, try this thread in another forum. Even though it's from a vendor, the info has some value.
I know tjockey and was able to hear his exhaust before he installed the Downpipes and it had a Great sound. I didn't ride in the car but it sounded Bad ass while driving away. I have the RR 3" exhaust I stumbled upon used for less than half price. Could not pass that up! Maybe we can get both cars and a video camera to show the difference.

The AMS 335i prototype is essentially the same design as the RR 135i exhaust. The test they did in the link showed the same power with single 3" prototype exhaust as the AE 335i true dual 2.5" exhaust. Same power with the 3" but less weight:thumbup:. This just proves that with an after market exhaust our 135i's are just as non-restrictive as 335i's with aftermarket exhausts.

I think I just found the exhaust system I've been looking for. hopefully I'll be a happy camper.

BTW, to the OP, did you order the slash cut tips or the straight ones?

You'll have no regrets. Just a word of advice: IF you're getting downpipes (or already have them?), pay the extra $200 for resonators. This thing flows VERY well and you'll avoid the risk of droning at expressway speeds with the resonators.

Regarding the tips: This was one of the first exhausts off the line when cp-e released them, so my only option was a straight-cut, staggered set of tips. I'm very happy with these and if I had to do it all over again, I'd get the same ones.

I'll be getting mine installed on Thursday and I can't wait. I'll be sure to take plenty of install pics and of course some videos.

I'd be curious about the weight of the system too, if the opportunity presents!

Resonated or not? I'd love to hear the difference between the regular cp-e and resonated cp-e exhausts... and I know I'm not the only one.
