I'd recommend checking out Dr. Colorchip and learning how to properly blend/compound/wet sand the area to make the repair look its best.

BMW has been selling the ColorSystem touchup kit like that for over 20 years now, if memory serves. I used one on my Silver Grey 330i sedan years ago, but no longer own it.

I used it and made things nearly worse than the scratch I was trying to repair. Took the car and the paint to a body shop and paid them something like $25 to fix my fix. They did the base and later that day I put on the clear coat. It came out pretty nice. The guy knew what he was doing and had some kind of mild solvent and rag and worked magic on it. So if you know what you're doing, it is good.

I bought it for my alpine white car about 4 years ago and use it for small rock chips on the nose of the car. Every spring I wash the car well and go over everything that needs a touch up. It works very well and is hardly noticeable unless you get right up on it. The paint stayed surprisingly fresh over the years I've had it.

Make sure you clean it real well and remove any wax before painting. Less is better with paint. For small chips I use a wood toothpick to float a small dab of paint in.
