AC compressor has "come apart"

So after a tow and being quoted around $2400 with tax to replace the compressor, I decided to rip the car apart myself. After about 3 hours and $500 all seems well. However, I am curious as to what would cause this type of compressor issue?

If you look at the pics, you can see that the wheel separated from the compressor, but why? I am able to spin the compressor easily by hand once it was removed. Also, notice the metal rings that came off, why are they bent as they are (there is still one on the compressor in 1 picture)?

you could short belt it until summer, but you won't have defrost in the winter. I don't know the right belt you could use though

It should be the same procedure as the 335

I found the compressor for less than $600 with 2 day shipping. ordering that now.

I also found some instructions for the replacement process.

Can anyone translate those torque specs?

So I checked the AC pressure as it was being evacuated...it was at 64PSI with the compressor off... So somehow my AC got overcharged?
