Trunk Holder thingie

According to the handbook, there is a clip on the inside top of the trunk that is supposed to hold the trap door open, so that you can load the area under the trap door easier.

Looking and attempting to use it on my trunk, it seems way too tight of a fit to work.
It looks like you have to force the trunk floor trap door past the ramp clip, and you would have to bend the floor to get it back out.

Is this how it is supposed to work? It seem way too tight of a fit to be a precision made German thing.

The clip thing goes in and out. It's just behind the light in the trunk.
I just lift it past, and when I'm done pull it past. Works excellently! :-) Very nifty idea!!! and it lets the light shine down there too...very handy!!!

The "clip" that I have is just to the left of the trunk light, and has no moving parts. It is a black injection molded piece.
It looks like the lid is supposed to slide over the ramp and lock in place, but there is way to much interference to get it to do so.

Does your latch have any moving parts, or is it a one piece affair?

My clip is just one piece --it works, but it's really stiff and tough to push back there... but if you push hard enough it works. It does seem a little like it doesn't fit though.

My clip is one piece, but it moves in and out of the top of the trunk

Thanks all.

The ome pice clip I have, "pivots" on the side closest to the front of the car. It would seem to me, that it would work better if the pivot was on the other side of the clip.

Looking at the car, it seems that the trunk liner may be slipping toward the back of the car. The trunk liner is flush against the back of the car, but there is a gap where it fits against the fold down rear seats

( If this is my biggest worry on the car, I'll be fine! )

I never noticed this feature. Cool, I'll have to try it.
