N55 Spun crank hub?
Hi all,
Don’t want to be posting this but I have a 2013 BMW 135is that I believe has a spun crank hub. Car was moneyshifted from 3rd to 2nd close to redline. Clutch was pushed in immediately but obviously too late. Car slowly lost power and got engine light. Pulled over and car would not restart. Can look in oil cap and see timing chain not spinning while cranking engine. Have codes for intake cam sensor, exhaust cam sensor, and crankshaft sensor. Just looking where to go from here. Is engine 100% toast with these symptoms? Appreciate any and all help. |

Well I’m sorry to hear that. I would imagine the valves and guilds etc are toast. Also the rpm would probably have been around 10k plus so then you have bottom end stuff etc. I would imagine you would be best off looking for a used or rebuilt motor. You could tear down and inspect and maybe get away with the top end but pistons could be damaged just from valve impact etc. I think it’s likely f’d but a bore scope could give you a better idea. Maybe someone else will chime in with more or a person experience. But that’s just kinda my brain thinking out loud. Sorry again that sucks no matter how you cut it.
