I almost feel ashamed to drive my 135i

People are so unsuspecting of it. They pull up to the lights in an aurion, hsv, fpv, euro etc and look at me with this look on their face like, cause you're in a small bmw that they are going to totally obliterate you.

Its probably ego causing this but, I don't like to lose EVER. Business, work or pleasure. So if someone does do this I am going to race them.

I feel ashamed because when you win, you make them look really bad. They never suspect that the 135i is going to be SO fast so that when its finished you made them look really bad. I kind of feel bad in a way. It used to feel good because you had a fast car but now, I feel slack for doing it. Its not even a fair race.

This is my rant. Anyone else got thoughts on this?

Btw I never break the speed limit and I always obey the law. However there are some nice roads to and from work that have a nice speed limit and lights.

You should get out more! A 135 is not a fast car ... go to your local drag strip and you'll find out.

MrBlonde, I'm not talking about the top 1%. I'm talking about daily drivers. Btw, nice car but your in a different league to me. I have to give people a ride, I couldn't get them into my car with a roll cage lol

I agree with you about there being faster cars btw. I'm saying you don't usually meet those on the public roads. You meet stock cars. (which mine is atm)

I understand what you mean, but there are a lot of factory stock cars a lot faster than a 135.

For traffic light derbies, not much can come close to a turbo'd bimmer. The big HSVs/FPVs have tonnes of power but traction issues and their immense weight usually means we get the jump on them. On a drag strip however we usually lose.

Evos/STi's seem to get bogged down at the start and again it's the illusion that we beat them. Try find a nicely modded s15 and you will be (un)pleasantly surprised.

Yeah.. I like your term 'traffic light derbies' lol! I had a s15 try get me yesterday, he did so unsuccessfully.

Stock we would lose. Tuned it would be a different story (i'm talking a chip, intake, downpipe and better wheels).

As hard as this might be, I am going to keep this off the road. I want real competition and not these lil guys.

Thats unless I see Jeef Beef or *heaven forbid* MrBlonde.. Then i'll be happy to lose

That's because the ones with truly fast cars would never race you. A former active member here Prof had a Turbo S. We should ask him if he ever engages in TLGP when he sees a 135i. Haha

Have to also say that cars that are stock (but faster) than ours usually aren't interesting in playing games. Rich people tend to be boring :-p

For sure, not too many owners are going to launch one at 4k on the street as they would at the strip.

A 135s a good bit of kit, there is however lots of faster stuff around even in stock form. The HSVs, F6s would be faster when they got going along with the Evos and STi's due to the AWD launch over 1/4 mile. The best thing would be take it out to the drag strip then you can really enjoy it when opening the taps up, all of those would be pretty evenly matched though so it'd be a good race you'd get a kick out of it, its a blast!

I agree with WAY though that the really serious stuff wouldn't run you off at the lights

Ozzie135i - I think that you must be a fast driver in a fast car. And the problem is that you have not come across a fast-er driver in a fast-er car than you! lol

But one day that will come.

Do you ever get that "I wish I was in the BMW right now!" moment?

A few weeks ago there was a Suzuki Swift with full body kit, two huge fart cannons that he cut the body kit to fit in (obviously with a hack saw). His head was barely above the window sill.

I was driving a friend's Swift and wound down the window and told him "don't make it something it ain't". He revved it off the redline and when he passed me in traffic did it again.

I noticed a sticker on his rear windscreen.

"When the clutch drops
The bullshit stops"

One of those moments.

One day I would like someone with a stock 135 to come to calder park or heathcote with me and we can find out if my dodgey Ford is or isn't faster. In this day and age of so much traffic and cars getting seized for a TLGP it just isn't worth it. It's a 100% stock G6ET, single spinner with traction issues and all. I have no real idea who will win.

I wouldnt imagine that there would be many turbo s floating around, especially in Brisbane. The only super quick stock car I saw was a newish 911 turbo and that was about 2 years ago! so I tend to agree with the thread starter. Perhaps I dont get out enough and I should go for a drive to the Gold Coast more often as I always see nice cars down there but I really only go there once a year for holidays

I used to thing my 135 was quick also in stock form but now that my 135 has a tune, intake, downpipes and intercooler on the way, I have to say it's really not that quick until you unleash it. 8psi versus 15psi BIG difference.

There are plenty of top shelf cars in Brisbane. In my little building alone there is a murcielago and a Ferrari California (both owned by the same guy), a DB9, two C63 AMGs, two old Dinos, and - believe it or not - two 300SL gullwings (not that anyone would be racing them!). There at least two current GTRs, about four Gallardos, and heap of current top grade Porsches in the CBD. Check out the carparks to the Riverside Centre and Waterfront Place next time you get a chance. Someone in Inns of Court has a flying spur, and there are a lot of Continental GTs around.

The point remains, though, none of them will be interested in taking a chop out of a 135 at the lights - thank God!!!

If you want to attract more attention the 1M may the car for you...in VO!! I suspect very man and his dog will be looking to serve out a belting to one of those when they hit the streets!!

There are lots of grey imports around my way, you just never know what they have under the bonnet, skylines, 200/180SX plus plenty of hotish looking STIs and EVOs. Coming home from work yesterday I was right behind a nice blue R34 GTR VSpecII, big cannon and a rather strong aroma of non standard fuel. I was in my M3 but he was one guy I was sure would have eaten me in a TLGP, it never happened so who knows.
