Luke warm heated seat...

Hi,
The driver side seat in my 128i is only barely warm even when the settings is a max (all 3 bars on). I have tried to swap the under-the-seat module between the 2 sides and same thing.

So I am wondering if it can be faulty "heating pads" inside the seat? Anyone had similar experience?

thanks!

It definitely can be. I DIY'd a set on my last car and they didn't last, just got cooler over time. Turns out the little links crossing form the + to - side started to break, I guess from sitting on them. I'm not a big guy... but that's what seemed to be happening.

I'd expect BMW to do better than my DIY, quality of pad and supportiveness of seat, etc. but it sounds like that's your issue.

Could also be it was coded to be cooler.
If you have Carly, Pro Tools or something else, you can change that.

Interesting! I have poked through Carly menus but didn't notice that one, or remember it if I did. Cool.

If the battery is low on charge, even though it shows 3 bars, it won't give you full heat. Trying putting the car on a battery maintainer and see if that helps before looking for faults.

The heating element is part of the cover, and they are insanely expensive.

Thanks for the suggestions all...

I am not sure if it would be battery since its still only warm when the car is running; so the alternator should be supplying full voltage.

I did a quick search and the pad is indeed very $$$...

I didn't know it can be coded to be cooler. I don't have a Carly but the stealer should know if it can be done?

thanks!

Not related to voltage output of the alternator, it depends on the state of charge of the battery. The charging system is quite complex.
