M version of 1 series coming soon
Seems to me that an M version of the 1 series is inevitable. Every other series of car has an M version. Maybe it'll be called the 135 M or M1, but I think within 3 years we will see an M version of the 1. So what do you guys think BMW will equip it with? I was thinking they might put the lightweight V8 engine from the M3 and also the carbon fiber top. I don't know about you guys, but I would be first in line for a car like that.

Doubt it. Tii version I'm sure, but I don't think we'll ever see an M series 1er.

how much real info is being used for these predictions? the v8 would be far too heavy, after all, they're already using the weight ballast in the back to make the weight more even, a heavier engine would only increase this problem, I'm not saying it's possible, but I feel too many people are making assessments with nothing to back it up, i'll believe it when I start to see more official documents, or info coming from people who get info from people situated high in the bmw co.

I don't think it will happen. BMW chief Norbert Reithofer has ruled the M version of the 1 series and announced that there will be a Tii version. I've read somewhere that the Tii version will have a high revving 4 cylinder twin turbo engine.

of course the thing that makes this seem very unlikely is the fact that the 135i is already just a hair away from being as fast as the m3. so a "m1" would be as fast or faster than the new m3, that would butcher sales of their new supercar. a "tii"concept seems more likely. they better not release it soon though cause i think they will piss of many 135i owners that just got their car. I just got mine and i'd be pissed if they released a high performance version. Anyways, the 135's fast enough.

The M1 will be BMW's supercar, the prototype is out, I doubt it will share a single part with the 1 series. The tii will be the performance version of the 1 series. For further details :, welcome to the boards.

Uh, what? There's currently only four M cars...
1-series - 3-series - ///M3 5-series - ///M5 6-series - ///M6 7-series - X3 - X5 - X6 - Z4 - Z4 ///M That's 4/8, which equals to only half the series at the moment. 4/9 if we include the X1, which is coming very soon.

If this were to EVER happen first of BMW would not make it. Take a look into aftermarket companies such as dinan and especially Hartge to do this. Hartge was the company that put the M5 V10 into a 3 series. With fabrication, lots of love, and a hefty price tag the M3 V8 can go into the 135. In the mean time save your money. This car would cost around $75,000+. The result however would be an astonishing M3 killer.. (I laughed on the inside)

You will never seen an M version of the 1 series, simply because it cannot be called an M1. BMW will never use the name "M1" for a 1 series because it will step all over the heritage of the M1 supercar. PERIOD. BMW will probably just call it a tii, and instead of making it a super powerfull car like the M3 is to the 3 series, it would be more like a super light high strung version of the 1 series. By the way, in 3 years what you'll see is an all new version of the 1 series. Actually, maybe 4 years. Keep in mind that the 1 series we are getting in the US is already half way through its production cycle, and it has been available in Europe for something around 4 years already. I read somewhere that the next 1 series will arrive in the US as a coupe, convertible, and as a proper 4 door sedan. |

More like the "H" series
Yep when gas prices are sooo high that even enthusiasts cannot afford 8.50 per gallon. BMW will come out with their new H-Series showcasing the latest in Hybrid technology.

1ADDICTS is growing, new members are not aware of the inexhaustible wealth of 1-Series information available within this site through a thorough application of the : function only because they just got here, they don't know any better, they haven't been hammered by mods or members to look around first, doesn't make em' bad people. New members happen, try to be tolerant, they haven't been here as long as us, it's OK. These threads will continue to appear...again, and again, and again...
BTW, the M1 has already been done, BMW is not going to rebirth the moniker. The M1 was special, the 1-Series is not.

BMW will never make an m1 as a part of the 1er's because it would kill the m3 sales. It's the same reason why Porsche will never put the same engine in the Boxster and 911. The Boxster would kill the 911 in ever aspect and cost allot less.
