Nope the side on profile view is going to look goofy on any car, 135, 1M, ActiveE. It isnt a power dome and more of a power shelf. Looks hideous IMHO.

Adding a "power dome" to a 1M is sort of like sticking some rolled up socks behind the zipper of your pants.

Ive literally said this exact same thing on every single power dome thread

If there isnt a supercharger that would stick through the hood if that dome wasnt there its exactly rolled up socks

Well unlike the E90 M3 which was necessary to accommodate the plenum on the engine, the E46 M3 had zero reason for it's powerdome. Sometimes things are just design elements and just that. The 1M certainly has elements that are form without function, let's not get too judgmental on the powerdome.

It was obviously for the 4.0L V8 in the GTR model.

This board doesn't speak fluent sarcasm from what I've gathered.

It was a joke.

Smile To Post or Not to Post?

I really want to post pictures of the AE hood when I get it installed, BUT....

There are 2 things that worry me and keep me up at night.

1. I will have to endure "ugly shelf" comments with a barrage of internet bullying that would follow. My fragile psyche just can't handle it.

2. Also, I am afraid the BMW police would come crashing through my front door to confiscate the AE hood. A hood I would only by through legal means from a BMW dealership, but I don't think BMW would care nevertheless.

What to do.....

What to do? Simple: when asked, say you are driving a wide-body Active E

I've seen the active-e hood installed in a 1M in different pics and honestly does not look good or sexy at all. the bump is far too wide when compared with other bumped sport hoods like the M3 one.

If you are willing to risk it by taking it to a shop so they make the bump narrower, then I guess it could work-- the advantage being that the overall fitment of the hood is guaranteed, but believe me, the way it comes, it won't make the car look better, but the opposite.

I think I pulled it off nicely with the other cosmetic mods I did.

No more Active E hoods....

...other than the 2 or 3 that are still in the wild!
