NO BOOST!!! but everything else is good. any ideas?
so i rarely drive my car 3-4 times a week and when i do i never push it cuz theres no need. anyway yesterday i was in second and was trying to overtake someone and felt wimpy. so a few minutes later i found this open road and went wot and the half engine light came on. i plugged in my obd2 scanner and there were no codes but it said something about being ready and say misfire, fuel, comp, evap, o2. i cleared the code and didnt come back. the car drives fine and revs freely. i just get no boost, not even enough for the bov to pop off. it also shows no boost at all on the gauge cluster hijack. i disabled the jb4 but still nothing. set it to map 1 and nothing, map 2 nothing. was running map 5 before.
i did a search and checked the vacuum lines near the actuators and near the wastegate. wastegate arm for one of the turbos doesn't seem broken like i've seen in my searches. my mods are dual cone intakes, chargepipe and bov and a jb4. any ideas that i might have missed? |

question fran, did your car run fine normally and even revved to redline without hesitation? these cars are map so i think they would even with a massive leak correct? |

Ok i had this happen to me constantly. Let me guess it happens usually over 70-80 mph or 2-3rd gear wot around 4.5-5k rpm? Then you turn your car off then on and runs like nothing happens till you step on it again? And just to make sure no rattle noise or strange whistling sound or any of the sort correct? And no smoke from right exhaust ?

First time that happened to me my rear turbo gave me a weird wooshing soung when i floored it needless to say i turbo gave out. Then when i replaced them i got a fmic and only was boosting 2 maybe 3 lb if that with the jb4 hijack the culprit was a hose then a cuppler from the cold side of the ic. Those plastic hoses are crap and make sure its tied down on a very sturdy side if not when the car is at its optimal temp fee ticks from middle plus air rushing in the plastics warp causing the hose to shrink and leak causing limp mode or cuppler come out of place and throws limp mode as well.

You should test your turbos to see if your wastegates are sealing properly.
It's best if you can get under the car with the downpipes off... Plug a mityvac, and pump up to 7in. Wastegate should seal between 7-10, if not, there's your leak. Then adjust the wastegate rod, and keep testing until wastegates shut at 7in. If you have a JB4, for the future, you can adjust the WG rod position to your liking. |

It revved without hesitation, but was certainly way down on power, you could hear that something was not right, as in an air leak, car drove ok, but had no snap, once reconnected it got its zip back. Fran

sorry for the late response. i had a vsrf ic that i was waiting on installing so what better time than now right. so i get this thing in, see no loose clamps or anything. got the upgraded couplings also. anywway put everything together, started the car and went around the block after a warm up and NO BOOST.
so maybe i thought my bov was leaking. i proceed to take off the vacuum to it and cap the line. still no boost. jb4 off, map1, map2 no boost. any suggestions on what to do next? |

you may have checked them already but if not try the wastegate canisters near the PS headlight. one of mine cracked at the nipple but was still attached...zero boost and very frustrated until I found it

check the two black looking canisters on the left side of the engine (passenger) there are 4 vacuum lines that go there on top and on bottom make sure the nipples aren't broken off. this is very common.

Even with bad turbos (where wastegate is not shutting properly), you should still be able build some boost, just very little. If you're not building ANY boost, I can only think that the wastegates are not even trying to shut. |
