Interesting. I don't recall seeing these when I was shopping for tires just a few months ago. :dunno

Looks like a good low budget option vs PP-s04, RE760 or MPSS

Running these sizes on OE wheels (with 1-series standard offset)?

Just got these installed today to replace the stock RFT's. 328i Coupe 18 225/255's no fitment issues w/stock M-Sport.

Wow - I like. Big time ride improvement over the rock hard factory Bridgestone's. They look nice and meaty, no tramlining, firm enough feel for me, and a super price for a good tire.

Thanks for this thread. My stuff is all stock and looking to buy 313 rims and move up to 225 fronts and 255 rears. These FireHawks may fit the bill on performance and budget given they are half the price of PSS, just wish Discount Tire sold them so I can get repairs/balances/rotations done for free. TireRack has good prices but the brick and mortar thing is a drawback to me.

Seems to be that the options are between these three:

-Michelin Pilot Super Sports
-Firestone FireHawk Indy 500
-Continental Extreme Contact DW

The PSSs are splendid tires, but if you're just looking for "spirited" driving tires that will not be pushed to their limits, I'd highly suggest these Indy 500s. The cash you save can buy you a second set (or most of one) farther down the line, or be put towards a tune. Between MHD, or even the now-discounted Dinan S2 (which you might appreciate if you want "stock-like" experience and reliability), that'd be my best bang-for-the-buck suggestion.

I got Dinan S2 last Friday. I very much like it. But runflats are just a beating on less that great roads. So next up is tires/313 rims/performance exhaust. I dont track or autocross the car so spending 60% as much on Indy 500s that deliver 90% of the performance of PSS seems like a good idea.

Awesome. My dad just got the S2 tune on his car last Friday, too and I drove it over the weekend -- perfect bump in torque for daily driving. And 90% might be a little optimistic, but for the money the Indy 500s are just killer.

Actually, looks like Conti is doing away with the Extreme Contact DW in favor of a new Extreme Contact (Sport?). I'm curious whether anyone has experience with them, particularly if the sidewalls are as soft as on the EC DW. I had the EC DW on an E46 M3, and while it made for a terrific touring tire (comfortable ride!), the slower response to steering input took away the sharpness that should have been on the M3.

The new Conti is receiving great feedbacks so far and the price is just right!

Can anyone confirm that if I want to size up from stock I should go 225/40r18 and 255/35r18? I saw someone did 255/40r18, but I know the current rears are 245/35r18 so I assumed that having 35 on the rear is correct.

I have 255/35/18, they fit fine. I do have VMR's and not factory wheels however.

My rears are nearly bald with around 10-11k miles. What kind of mileage have you guys got out of them?

I just bought these a week or so ago. I'm running 235/265 on Apex wheels. No rub now. Was getting occasional rub with old tires that had a more square profile.

Tracked them last weekend and can't complain. Even had a wet session and they were predictable.

No prep 1.7xx 60' ... even the LSD DR cars have trouble doing this. So there is another kudos for the Indy's.

What are your mods? I mean that would have to be in the upper 11s for. 1/4, right?

Should be mid 11's. Haven't made a pass on this setup yet.
