Just went on a 550kms drive with a bunch of mates. (Range of cars). Had an absolute blast and just couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. Have had bunch of M cars (e30,36,46,92, e39 m5) and the 1M is by far the most fun. I love the e46 m3 especially, but the fun factor hands down goes to the 1M!

I 1000% agree!!!
I've driven just about every sports car in the sub $120K price point and none I can say are more fun and put a big smile on my face than our 1M I do a lot of runs out West here in Northern Virginia into wine country and I can drive these back country roads for hours. Time just flies! |

I guess they just need to keep telling themselves? However, we know the real deal 😎 Did you catch the Chris Harris M2C review I posted up? He's just so whatever about the car, didn't seem genuinely excited or impressed...kinda like ehh 😕 |

Meanwhile I can drive my 135i with indistinguishable (or for the money, vastly greater) real world performance into the ground without a care about the future value.

So, this is great news for everyone. High tide lifts all boats, so it does not matter that it will not be driven, there are plenty out there for those who want to do so. The ultra low mileage cars serve those who want them just as well as the DD cars, nothing is wasted.
I own two, one that just hit 4,000 miles, that I do drive, and one with 1,298 miles that I do not drive and may sell next year if the market is good. Bottom line is each person can do as he/she pleases. |

Just because you don't think the car is worth it means nothing. It is worth what someone will pay and clearly there are those whose perspective differs from yours. I can only hope that there are more people out there who recognize the value of the car and make the great decision to pay for it. As to the rest of you, if you don't want to pay the asking price, then don't. If you want to drive your 1M every day then do, if you want to track your car then go for it. I wish you all well. What I don't like is your subjective, and incorrect assessment of the value of the car. It sold, so be happy. |

So why wouldn’t you just buy the car with higher value retention and use it the same, and when it comes time to sell (if that arrives), you still lose less money. My friend paid $107K aud on a loaded 135i and said this to me also, he says he doesn’t need to worry about his car depreciating, but his car is now worth about $20K. If I was choosing between three cars and couldn’t decide, I’d simply choose the car which would likely depreciate less. That has to be the best choice. |

I will own my 1M for as long as I'm alive and then it goes to my kid. I am not concerned about "values". I just drive it. I feel bad for peeps who sit around worrying about values. To me it's just foolish that people buy one of the best driver cars of the modern era and don't drive it so they can preserve the value. Very shallow to me...

Nowadays though, when you can buy a nice 135i for only $15K-$20K and then mod to taste, the decision is more dubious. That being said, to get back to the thread topic, I'm seeing that a lot of 1Ms on Bringatrailer have been only going in the $39k-$50k range the last few months, so that's changing the calculation a bit to me. |

Canadian cars certainly go for lower....I guess it puts off many perspective buyers? Also, Don't forget BAT slaps another 5% plus Canadian cars also have some export tax or something that needs to be paid as well. |
