N52 DCT swap?

Hey all, as the title says, im crazy and interested in DCT swapping my 128i 1M conversion.

So my theory is that if the N55 DCT bolts up the N54, and the N54 6mt bolts up to the N52, shouldnt the N55 DCT bolt up to the N52?

If anyone has insight on what kind of wiring, modifications, module changes, or anything else involved it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

N52 DCT swap?

Major programming and tuning. You won't find a Factory DCT tune that will have the right shift point or pressures. Let alone communication protocols.

The DCT will request bigger torque reductions through a shift and rev matching than what the N52 can do. My opinion from trying to get a good ZF tune for the n52

You"ll spend more on the process than swapping cars.

The car is actually a six speed funny enough. I might be the only nut job wanting to DCT an N52. Ive seen some pretty intense DCT swaps from e9x M3 onto 1JZ, M50/52, and other bmw and non-bmw engines.

I would think its possible if they can do it, and I would even be the same chassis generation being the DCT coming from a 1 and going into another 1.

There was a thread about it a while ago. I think Hassmachine and Rjahl concluded the MSV80 might not even have some of the required data the DCT needs to function.

That said, it's definitely possible. Just depends how deep your pockets are.

Are the guys running 1JZs with BMW DCTs using a standalone ECU? Maybe a Haltech is used to create the data the DCT needs.

Hey E30ROB , did you find out more about this or end up doing it? I am interested as well.. I have a 330i e92 and i love the n52 engine, but i would also prefer a dct over the manual.

The thread has been dead for four years and Rob sold off his 128i, so no.
