Looking at two 128i this weekend, need advice
Ok so I'm looking at two 2012 128i this weekend trying to figure out the better deal as I may finally be close to pulling the trigger...
1) 2012 128i Mileage: 22,700 M-Sport... that's it (Halogens) $22,500 2) 2012 128i [CPO] Mileage: 34,000 M-Sport Xenons Navigation HK Audio Convenience $25,000 Both have manual unheated seats and no sunroof. I would prefer #2 but trying to decide if its worth the extra $2,500 for those upgrades... Thanks! |

depends - how long do you plan on keeping it -
#1 would be my choice if plans were to keep it forever b/c all the "extra" electronics/headlights will be come expensive to repair/replace in the long haul plus i hate nav and that alone would DQ #2 |

Yes, #1 has less miles and is less expensive with less gadgets to break but I would def have to upgrade the stereo system $$$ as I've heard it and think it's awful. And I may regret not getting Xenons. |

What I drive now is essentially #1 but with xenons. MSport, no sun roof, manual seats, no navigation, MT. I'm not a feature guy. Bought the car brand new in nov 2010, and now with 36K I just love it , as day 1. Lease ends next year and I'll keep it.

get #2.
xenons are a MUST. for appearance AND performance. Halogens SUCK. upgraded Audio as well...the standard stereo system sounds like a 1986 boom box. on top of all that you get a CPO warranty. a no brainer!! have fun shopping!!! |

I'll second the #2 vote. The xenon headlights are awesome.

The CPO makes all the difference
Make sure you get documentation from the dealer's computer of the expiration date. Also- have you seen car-faxes for both to make sure there's nothing funky ?

If you have to pick one i'd say number 2 .
that being said i wouldn't get a car for 25k with manual seats

I had a choice of 2 128i as well, drove both not a chance of buyers remorse with either so let Mrs Tux decide and she choose the one with more stuff for a diff of 1k more. More options do build value but as my daddy used to say buy the cheapest house in the best neighborhood. With 5yr ownership I'd come to appreciate the better optioned car #2.
If you drive both and buyers remorse isn't a factor then let a Mrs* OneAddicts have a go, if she's like Mrs Tux shes always right! *assuming a mrs forgive me if not |

I'd go with 1, the mileage difference is worth something, and with $2500 you can make 1 a better car by upgrade the sound system with a performance exhaust , and maybe some suspension mods.
I'm not really a fan of the convenience package, it's range isn't very good, and i don't like how the windows open with the unlock button being continually pressed (a few times this has happend because the fob was left in a way the button was being pressed), but then i guess without a sunroof there less potential for things to get ruined by snow or rain.

#2 becuase of Xenons and HK. The base audio in the 1series is absolute trash. Sounds like audio from the speaker on my phone. I deal with it since i have a short commute, but the xenons are a must.

You didn't mention what kind of tranny each has.
I'd go for the lower mileage car.

It's sounds cliche, but you're seeing it unfold in this thread. It's so much a matter of personal taste/preference.
In my case, I had to have: HK audio, M sport package, and nav/tech package. You've got all of that AND convenience package and xenons in option #2. And, the extra miles on a CLASSIC N/A inline-6 (N52) BMW engine...shot in the bucket. Option #2 would be it, for me. Now, even though I think it's worth every penny at $25,000, with the extra miles, I would cite the extra miles on the vehicle and offer $23,500. Remind the rep. that all of those options were already paid for by the original owner (if it comes up). The engine's the thing...not the headlights, etc. And you're still paying more than opt #1. Hopefully they counter with 24K and you save yourself a grand. If he doesn't budge at all on the price...you've lost nothing...it's still worth a try. |
