Lookin' good!

The autotrader car looks pretty reasonable, too.

I'll have to check it out. With my tranny on the ground right now. It may be a good time to upgrade.

Replace 2X Item 2. Replace Item 9 if you can.

The only thing I found at FCp was over $200 and on back order. What is the part number?

I ordered just the lever not the whole knob, boot, lever kit. That may be what you are looking at.

BMW Shift Lever - Genuine BMW 25117542200

$107.63

BMW Shifter Bearing (Top Ring) - Genuine BMW 25111220600
$19.39

The shifter is a great upgrade. You'll enjoy it. That combined with a clutch stop really makes shifting a pleasure and much faster.

Also make your next mod some poly rear subframe bushings. Can't recommend it enough.

So I have ready to go a BMW PE shifter. On the way an early non adjustable sprint booster and also a 3.73 diff. Going to order some stiffer trans mounts too and spend a quality day under the car soon...

Nice! I’m gearing up to do the shift rod and an auto diff as well. I thought the performance shifter was long sold out. Thanks for posting that the rod is still available individually.

Shifter is in. Fairly straight forward job.

Inside car pull knob and boot.

Pull rubber seal around shifter.

I used the two screw drivers method to turn and release the bearing cup.

Get under car.

Remove aft cover.

Locate clips and slightly open them and slide them off.

Work the selector rod off. Pay attention to which way it goes.

I did both ends and cleaned and degreased everything. Then applied white lithium to the surfaces.

Get back in car and lube new cup bearing and shifter with grease. Don’t be sloppy attracts dirt and makes abrasive paste.

Slip in place and turn to lock.

Back under car.

Put the front joint back together first and ensure it is locked in place. Repeat with rear clip.

Put cover back on.

Back inside make sure it goes correctly into each gear.

Replace gasket and boot and shifter.

Results are nice. Shifts are smooth with a little more effort and a slight notchiness. The shifter sits higher (good the old one was too low) and it simply feels like a smaller throw higher effort OEM shifter.

Very nice and worth what fcpeuro charges for the performance shift lever.

Shifter in the 2nd gear position. measuring from my handbrake. About an 8cm throw. Of course distance is less across the gates as well (left to right).

1st gear position

Longer in both directions from the pivot.

Added the sprint booster v2 that I got from a fellow 1'er in this thread.

https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...2#post26568822

Best $50 bucks and 5 minutes, 1 bolt mod I have ever done.

Feels like a linear cable operated throttle from days of olde. Push it 1/4 and you get 1/4 instead of an 1/8th.

You acclimate very quickly to the new range and car seems peppier...even though it really is just using more throttle per cm of travel.

Nice!!!

Diff gets her later this week....that will be interesting with the new throttle response.

Gotta say the simple non adjustable sprint booster is a game changer.

Makes the car feel much more lively.

I have no idea why this part was ever sold.

If you really want to reinstall that part then pull yours out....stick a little screwdriver in the hole and push the little piece of metal out. Reinstall.

Better yet.

Pull your old CDV out. Throw it far far away. And reconnect the existing lines.

Honestly the CDV was and is one of the dumbest thing BMW has ever done. And the people who made this part were just dishonest.

The only possible reason to ever have installed one was if you were worried about the dealer spotting your modification and would deny your claim for your clutch or driveline.

Other than that a total waste of money.

It limits driveline shock from idiots driving thus cuts warranty claims significantly.

My car was under warranty when I did it so I bought one and drilled it out and just swapped them.

Reset the windows and date/ time.

Next day disconnected the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) since that seems to be a potential issue. Battery looks relatively new and load tests fine on my HF load tester. Not very sophisticated. May pull battery and have it properly tested or just replaced it since these cars are so voltage sensitive.
What did you determine? It's been a while.

"Got car back from dealer and had three warranty items done. Blower motor wiring, PCV heater AND the B+ and fuse panel.

Turns out it was "done" in 2013 but not done. When they got into it they found original parts and not the recall parts. BMW stepped up and handled it in my favor and I was very impressed."

This was a recall that replaced part of the battery cable and the fuse box.

It resolved a bad connection between the two.

It was determined that mine had the work "Done" but mysteriously it had the old parts in it.....

Tech at my shop knew a tech who was retiring/ short timer at the shop where it was "Done" who was NOT doing the work but was simply marking it done. The offending shop was BMW of Fairfax.

BMW honored the warranty after they pulled it apart and found the old parts still there.

Selling my 128i Autotragic Diff.

I've been driving around in 6th instead of 5th and that just isn't going to cut it RPM wise.

Diff I bought is still int he box and ready to be shipped.

I've never opened the box.

Here is the ebay ad.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/08-13-BMW-1...72.m2749.l2649

Will sell for $150 + a $25 credit towards shipping....more than that is on you... (I think we can get it shipped Greyhound for that much!)

Take all of your passengers' neck snapping "you can't drive stick" frustration out on that POS with a sledgehammer. Godawful part, and embarrassing to have on the car as a driver. That thing embarrassed me for 2 months with my carpool. Taking it out was the best thing that I've done to the car so far.

Exactly....."How did I get so uncoordinated?" to "I can shift like Jacky Stewart!" all in a few short minutes....
