Thanks for sharing, great photos. +1 on Peak District, lovely twisty backroads, great Bakewell pies and tarts, scenic towns and train-station-turned-bookstore, very charming area.

This is so cool to see. Since I am leaving from Montreal to go and tour Scotland on a driving vacation. I have hired a 330d touring with M-performance pack (or whatever that is).

I am leaving for London on the 11th of May and should arrive in Glasgow to start my driving trip around the 14th.

Great to see your Google Map of the roads since it is so similar to what I had planned.

Cheers!

Enjoy.

The weather is looking pretty good and the scenery is great, plenty of nice b&b's and great hospitality. Then you have the great driving roads, and the further north, very little traffic, great for those off the beaten track 'taramc rally stages'

Have a great time.

Hi. Great photos.

So am here now @ Laggan in Cairngorm park. N thinking a good trip would be to Eilean castle and then back via something. Thoughts?

Drove for a few miles past Laggan up general Wade's road for around 1 hour. Single Track road so no heroics and just pootling alomg but saw about three different herds of wild deer which was nice.

Just the a86 nearby has given me the taste to go further.. And fast and smooth. The lack of super being freely available is a worry. What did the guys in your m's do when they were here?

Thanks

Edit. So went from Laggan to Eilean Doran castle. A86 then A87. Excellent. Left right left right straight right left right left straight (for about 80 miles, broken only by a few miles alongside a loch on a82 which was busier). Some of the corners were off camber and the journey back was broken with a couple of lorries slowing things up and some dodgy weather. On the way out the only thing in the way was a Porsche turbo being driven probably tidier than my own car.
😀.
