Don't like the exhaust in the middle. I think if there are no quads, it should stay like this on one side. The old M3 also had them on one side and as Scott (or the M Boss) said, this car will be some kind of the origin, I believe it will have only 2 exhaust on one side.

M or not does not depend on number of exhausts, but I would like quads. I think at the moment they are only testing engine and chassis. They put the production front bumper for the right cooling/air flow.

BTW, I think they are playing with us.. hehe...
The only finished parts is the front-bumper, the front side fenders, the Suspension and drive train together with the LSD. The rest is still up to come....

PLEASE do not even think for a moment that ANY new car will ever capture the essence of the E30 M3. That will never happen again, period. This car is MUCH closer to capturing the essence of either the E46M3 or the Euro E36M3.

And lets stop the quad exhaust discussions in other threads than the exhaust thread. It is ruining other meaningful discussions.

Look at this photo carefully you can see the line of the fake fender flare like you see on the red car.

I think you're right about it being the same car, but the side skirt on the lower photo has a continuous seam while the black piece fender covers the seam on the upper photo. Looks to me like they're test fitting production panels now, including the rear fender. Not sure why the white line appears that you pointed out through.

The quads do look cool, but as in the E46 M3, exhaust had to be routed at the back through bends as there are headers on one side only in a straight 6 cyl. The Dinan exhaust only used the left exhausts which is more efficient. If they keep the weight down this car will be a blast either way no matter what they call it.

Euro lights... They don't need the yellow in the corners like we do. If you look at euro e92's, they don't have the stupid reflectors in front of the wheels that we have to delete.

How are you so sure? Scott said it will be an //M. Non-M cars dont have flared fenders and LSD's.

Taking a wild guess I think it may be 1 of 2 or 3 options:

Option 1: These cars have different suspension (and or engine) tweaks. That is why they have 2 different drivers running at the same time and collecting driver feel and data on 2 totally different set ups.

Option 2: These cars have the same exact specs and these 2 different drivers are giving different feedback for more suspension tweaking.

Option 3: It is neither Option 1 or Option 2.

spartikus, can't wait to reply to your post during the official press release of the non M 1 series ...although, I wish I were wrong b/c I'd love a 1 series M.

M cars typically share 2 body panels with their normal production siblings (the doors) and this thing seems to share them all except the front facade and the quarters to accommodate the larger tires.

Barring the lack of a quad exhaust, everyone has been referencing the e30 or e36 - thats fine. Those models had a different decklid, rear facade, side skirt, roof, hood, front and rear quarters, and front spoiler from the closest 3 series variant. I know, everyone says this is a mule - well its been out for a while and all of our BMW insiders claim it will be for sale prior to the F10 M5 - we're running out of time.

The e30, e36, e46, e92 and every other m car also demonstrate a significant power increase over the next closest non-M car in the lineup (think of the most recent example - the 335 at 300bph vs. M3 at 415, etc.). Now do the same for the 1 series - already pretty potent and no chance they are putting enough punch to trounce the certain-to-be-priced higher M3 (like porsche detuning the cayman S to avoid cannibalization of the base 911). So what do you get? A mid-life model like the Z4is....something to boost sales and a cool derivative but not a new M car.

There are too many factors contributing to the 135is....sorry. I hope I'm wrong but I sincerely doubt it.

Yes, they must be doing it to irritate you. It couldn't possibly be cause they have their own opinion that happens to be different from yours and they have come to these forums to express that opinion......couldn't be that.

Cheers,
