The latches for the split fold are under the parcel shelf area (in the boot though)
Not easy to spot unless you know where they are.

If the retrofit is anything like the e90 it should be simple. I did it.

you should just have to buy a 135i home link mirror($100-150 if I remember correctly for mine) and a small wire harness(about $20) to get the additional 3 or so wires to make the mirror function. then it took me about 30 minutes and I started in the dark and cold using the glovebox flashlight . no coding is necessary, was plug and play.

link to the DIY I followed. hopefully it's similar....

Thank for saving me the embarrassment to whining to my dealer. I's funny how these details loom large.

Now never mind us and go enjoy your car while I call my CA to whine that I WANT MY CAR!

BTW we all should

In reading the link I came across this:

"is for vehicles without autodimming sideview mirrors and autofolding mirrors"

My car lists those features. So I guess it is that high beam Blinky Thingamabob for me.

You have no idea what we just went through in the office over your claim that the rear seat latches were missing. I must send cookies to Germany now. Guys... TAKE the time to have a real sales delivery done! I know you're dying to get out and drive but it's really worth a few extra minutes!

Sorry, the UGDO is not offered on the 1M (edit: in the US).

....Unless you live in Canada. You guys really could not have put this in the premium package like every other car you make?

Sorry to bring up what is now a tired theme, but the option packaging on this car was a failure from the customer perspective.

I'm sorry to unleash the wrath of the passionate masses on you.

I did get a thorough pre delivery walkthrough. He opened the hood and trunk. While the trunk was opened we talked about the battery and lack of a spare. I guess we got busy talking and he forgot to mention the seats. It wasn't that important to me.

This wasn't necessarily the fault of the owner. Sales people have been lacking in many respects since the inception of this car. Most sales people didnt even know this car existed until WE told them about it (well after lots of customers were able to order it online)....

Yes I was at Aliso Beach. It was totally unplanned. I went for a drive and decided to drive back on PCH. I passed the beach and then turned around to get the pictures. The light was great that time of day.

I plan to be at Cars and Coffee in Irvine on Saturday. I hope you can come by.

As funny as this was, in a sick demented sort of way, BMWNA guy is right.. Its always better to take a step back and collect ones thoughts and reactions before one screams "fire"...
I am glad it was a simple oversite and is has now past

The real funny thing is, i can imagine dan at united trying to buy up every handle and cable assy on the planet to fill the group buys...

p.s. not researching it, but i am gonna guess the UGDO is going to be an easy retrofit.. if not thru the mirror then maybe thru the older style with the 3 buttons in the domelight area panel.. ???? just a thought..

Does anyone have a copy of their build sheet? I was surprised to see that the car had non-retractable headlight washers when my build sheet clearly lists retractable. (Minor point I admit.)

Maybe they list a specific number of items regardless of what is ordered? Mine is very different from yours.

Now that is a good day. Are you sure you still want it? You won't be able to start a "first" thread. Mine is being tinted so I can't pick it up until Wed.

Right, but on the E90 you couldn't get the homelink mirror without having the premium package, which then also included the autodimming and folding mirrors.

The 1M has those options but no homelink mirror. The swap may be even easier as you would assume the wire harness to the mirror would be the same as the one on the 135i. So at best you swap the mirror and now you have homelink or you swap the mirror and have to add a wire or 2 to the harness from the dome to the mirror to then power the homelink feature.

Best way.... find a friend with a 135i equipped with the homelink mirror. take the mirror off and examine the harness to see how many wires are plugged into and where, then check your mirror harness. The harness clips WILL be identical, it's the amount of wiring that may need to change.

HomeLink Mirror

Which interior mirror should be used with a 1M that has all options? RealOEM has several options for a 135i. Additionally, an online parts Web site for a BMW dealership lists several other options.

51169225980 Rearview mirror EC/LED/GTO/compass/FLA
51169225988 Rearview mirror EC/LED/GTO/compass/FLA/RC. 315 MHz
51169174309 Rearview mirror EC/LED/GTO/remote. 315 MHz

EC = Electrochromatic
Radio = Radio-wave remote control
LED = Light-emitting diode for alarm system
GTO = Integrated remote control/garage door opener
FLA = High-beam assistant
Compass = Digital compass display
ETC = Electronic Toll Collection
TLC = Out-of-lane warning

I don't think it's minor at all, and the 1M was advertised publicly (as recently as the NYC Auto Show) as having Retractable Headlight Washers.

These fixed nozzles are an eye-sore.
