P0440 and P2A1A
Anyone know what could be causing these codes?
I recently installed dp's and the BMW dp fix. I also recently cleaned my intake valves and I thought that might have left something unpluged or have a pinched hose and I could not find anything. Car drives great but these codes triggered the service engne light. Any help would be appreciated. |

looks like something related to your fuel tank, a quick search shows that 0440 is a evaporative emission code and 2a1a is a tank ventilation system code.
Check to see if your gas cap is on nice and tight.

P0440 - Tank safety valve malfunction.
P2A1A - Could not find that code. Are you sure its P2A1A?

just as a hint for you guys, try searching without the P in front of the codes when searching sites like bimmerpost and n54tech, you'll find a ton more info.

It appears that I might have pinched the hose shown in this picture when I put my intake manifold back on. What does this hose do and would it throw these codes?

I did not remove the head. I only removed the intake manifold, which is pretty easy. As you know these engines are known to deposit carbon on the intake valves and I wanted to check the condition. They were bad enough that I decided to clean them since I had everything apart.

I have only owned it since December and it has 28k on it. I have had a Cobb tune on it since January. I have a 12 mile to commute to work and I usually get on it once or twice a day. I don't drive it really hard.

interested to see what lambo has to say. i recently had all 6 plug replaced because cylinder 5 was misfiring and the dealer found the other plugs a little fouled up. i'd guess it's due to carbon buildup

It seem as if the pinched hose was causing my problem. I unpinched the hose, cleared the codes and drove it around for 25 miles and no thrown codes. Hopefully it stays that way.
