SOOOO many have said that. Yes I considered it, still might. I do think the pre LCI look better, to me at least. I love the three solid horizontal lines. The curved LED strip in the lci just never made much sense to me. But I like the dark contrast of blacklines so I'm conflicted. Wish they did a pre LCI blackline set

I agree. I meant PRE LCI. I do wish they made a black line version of them. I prefer the 3 line tubes.

I do vote you get rid of the left side antennae. It looks unicornish.

Love the color.

Is there really a bump in the bumper direct center top side below plate?

After headers, I finished my exhaust. Today I download my new tune, and see how the new Magnaflow sounds with the headers. PO had done a muffler delete, so I knew it would be too loud....hence the new setup.

Tips are huge!

That side antenna and sharkfin on the trunk are absolutely going to be addressed. I hate them lol my thoughts were either a euro E88 trunk that came without the sharkfin or modifying a carbon duckbill trunk for the E82 to fit. Side antenna is going to be shaved. This is likely all with the next full makeover that will be a repaint of the whole car. I'm currently torturing myself over the long list of Individual colors to choose one

Not sure honestly. I have to figure that out because it drives me insane. I thought it was the clip that was broken there but that's not the case. I'm determined to figure it out lol

I can understand that. I like the pre-LCI taillights as well but eventually I fell in love with the blackline look and purchased a pair in 2014. They're a subtle difference but I find them beautiful and am happy I got them. Nice we have choices.

With how cheap the pre lci ones are now, I may pick up a set and see what can be done with cracking them open and darkening the housing or something. I'll make my own damn blacklines

Installed a new custom steering I had re-done in Alcantara and leather, with orange stitching to match the rest of the 1M interior.

Red 'M' go fast button on the steering wheel controls and a new Red/Start stop button.

Would be interesting to see what you'd come up with. Custom pre-LCI blackline taillights, to go with your customized pre-LCI 1er. Sounds good to me.

Hey low135, just noticed this pair of used pre-LCI taillights for sale. Don't know if you are interested in a used pair, but thought I'd post a link for you, since you mentioned it. They're at the top of the for sale section at the moment.

Mounted a fresh set of Firehawks for the rear.
I think they'll be a safer tire to head out to Pikes Peak next week vs my Federals.

Caught a 2A87 Exhaust VANOS code. Running a little funky but still very driveable.

According to the log, last year/25k mi ago I replaced my exhaust VANOS solenoid due to the same code and that cleared it up. I followed up shortly with the intake solenoid, since I bought an aftermarket one (Dorman) and they were cheap enough.

Gave both solenoids a quick spray with brake clean and swapped them around. Hopefully it's just a crappy aftermarket piece, and not anything bigger, like the cam bearing ledges or VANOS sprocket bolts. These forums sure know how to make a man worry lol.

Edit: reading up, sounds like the Dorman solenoids are good, not great. Some people have them last for a while, others have them fail in a few months. Gonna keep driving for a bit and monitoring things, see if the code switches over to 2A82, intake side.

I installed my new Steering Wheel to replace my Sport Steering Wheel with the one shown below. Perforated leather, twice as thick, and the 3 color stitching looks great.

Even though it doesn't directly improve anything, it's actually like I'm driving a completely different car.

It took a while to get here as I asked the seller to change the front plate over to a plain black one without the "M" badge as I still wanted to get rid of the silver trim. But below is the picture of it as he had it listed. I actually made an offer as he had that option, and ended up getting it for $40 less than what he was listing it for.

Once I figured out how the springs on the air bag worked, it took about 30 minutes to replace it.

That little M badge is the only one on my car. Lol. I have a 135 "Sport" aka the base model in the US but it came with Msport wheel w/ perforated leather. Is the 128 wheel not as thick?

Yeah...the 128 Sport wheel is much thinner than than the new one, but the new one is actually an M3 wheel that a guy on the auction site rewraps and refurbishes everything with new leather.

That's why it has a flat bottom and more pronounced grip points at the various "clock" positions. The 128i sport wheel is more streamlined with the aluminum trim at the bottom. Not sure if they offered an M Sport wheel for the 128....I think just standard and sport.

But the sport airbag and M airbag are the same, so everything fit right together.

I was surprised by the craftsmanship of his work. He also offers other alternatives such as Alcantara, wheels with M stripes, etc. Looks like some of these high dollar wheels you see selling for $700+.

Would you believe I paid slightly less than $300 shipped? He's a guy who is in another country, and all proceeds from his sales goes into a non-profit children's theater that he and his wife run in what is a pretty hard hit area economically.

The stock 128i wheel is thinner, with ugly silver trim, designed to make you feel bad about your life choices and trade your car for a more expensive one.

These cars came base, sport, or M-sport (possibly not all 3 for different years). My car is a sport which has the sport suspension, black trim, and sport seats. The M-sport package has those items plus the M-sport wheel which is thicker, but not the same as the M3 wheel. The M-sport package likely had a different shifter too, and hundreds of little M badges everywhere you look.

Damn! I woke up feeling pretty good, went out and looked at my steering wheel and now am depressed

Actually my wheel looks a little better than the pic - white trim and the paddles are different.
