Not debating top tunes, but AA now has a MILVS tune, just have to ask. I did before/after tune tests at a dyno and saw ~6hp gain, so it's doing something, though no idea how comparable it is to StageFP.
I'm sorry, just so I understand your post, are you saying that MILVs +tune got you 6 whp? If so, I can cross this off my list. No way I'm cracking the valve cover again for 6 whp, lol. If anything, I'll wait until the eccentric shaft sensor needs replacing again.

JMO.....but I have the stagefp tune......and milvs were very noticeable. Maybe 6 hp peak.....but I bet it's a lot more under the curve!

I think the summary from all the various threads was:

- 3SIM adds low, mid, and high end (because of the DISA)
- Headers is nice high end bump
- MILVs is like Headers, but for mid-range

Exactly.......and 3:73 rear differential on the 6 speed trumps them all.

Well, it's not a perfect comparison, but MILVS+tune got me 6whp over MILVS+no_tune. My understanding was that you need a tune to be able to take advantage of the extra lift from the MILVS, so this should essentially be a MILVS/noMILVS comparison, but people have said that the adaptations will figure it out on their own, so I'm not entirely sure what to think. This is just back to back testing, where the car was without tune for a few hundred miles, then I flashed the tune while at the dyno. It was ~6hp across most of the range.

If you already have the valve cover cracked, it's not too much effort to install these things. I would definitely *not* do a valve cover job just to put them in though. It makes a noticeable difference driving, but not so much that it's worth the hassle, imho.

You are correct. Adaptations will not compensate for Milvs. You need a tune to adjust for the added lift and duration.

I think Marty advertised around 8+hp with Bob's tuning before he left BPC. This was their dyno.

Either way.....I could definitely feel a difference.

I can’t seem to find MILVS for sale anymore, where did you get yours?

They're available from https://BimmerMILVS.com but they're out of stock right now due to COVID-19. Marty's machinist isn't at work, but they do have ~50 sets of MILVS to process once the shop starts back up.

Also hopping in here to recommend MILVS as well.

I've been looking to pick up a set when they're available again, but I'll probably just put 'em in my parts box for a rainy day. I figure it's only a matter of time before the eccentric shaft sensor craps out again and I have to pull the valve cover. 😂

Just cruise at 70 mph in 6th, then drop down to 5th. That will be a good approximation of your new top end. The gearing is about 15% apart, same as 3.73 from 3.23. Personally, I hardly ever used 6th before, so the jump to a 3.73 rear end was all win.

Great!!! I almost never use 6th. Will start looking for an 128i auto diff. Any other Exx cars use that diff too?

I think the 328i has the exact same drive trains.

Hi, bob! Is your intake a European performqnce air intake box or a u.s. version? And do you happen to know what's the difference between the two?
