I'm an electrical engineer and have been in nuclear power going on 30 years now. There was some promise of a comeback in the nuclear industry until the Fukushima Daiichi meltdowns and development of natural gas fracking making gas a cheap alternative. The company I work for had applied for new nuclear construction licenses over 10 years ago, but they were subsequently cancelled at our request. Now we are shutting down plants in the NE before their license is due to expire due to cheap natural gas.
