Car clunks in gear moving forward help!
I back out the driveway, heard a clunking clanking sound from rear, mid area possible tranny driveshaft?
Went driving and metallic clanking sound seemed very scattered not a constant focus sound rather a pile of junk sound coming from the drive train area. I jacked up both rear wheels and gave them a spin in neutral and they were fine, brakes are good, front brakes appear bolted in place. Is there a driveshaft issue with these cars? mine is an automatic which seems to shift normally but makes the clank when placed in gear moving in either direction. Very worried I will investigate further tomorrow when there is daylight. Last edited by Mr Gasser; 03-11-2018 at 12:45 AM.. |

rear control arm bolt was completely off, luckily I did not lose the bolt was able to zap it in...those dummy s that replaced my sub frame did not tighten that bolt good enough and it worked itself free.

That's fucking scary. Glad you noticed it before it caused a failure elsewhere, or worse.

My left rear CV joint housing has a shiny polish from the grinding, seems not too deep, boot not broken, and no leaks...will check it occasionally or when I do a tranny service job not too far down the road...
