Help with timing corrections
Hey guys I have a 135i and I've been having the worst time trying to get rid of my timing corrections. Daily driving I'll have times where I get -8 in cylinder 6 while the others are around -5. I've researched from here and heard in general any more correction then -3 is something that should be looked into. Car not throwing any codes btw
Car has 85k miles Maintenance done: Coil packs 83k Transmission fluid 79k Diff fluid 79k Oil change 79k HPFP 76k Spark plugs 74k Mods include MHD (stage 0 to daily drive) Dp 3" axle back Chargepipe Occ I know the next thing on the list is injectors but that being an expensive purchase I wanted to elimate all other variables, is there anything I should try to replace before I go that route? And also if I replace the injectors and the corrections are still what should I do?

Wait, why would you put the flash in stage 0 for daily driving? It won't be any harder on the car until you demand a heavy acceleration. Even then, the power is very safe for any car in good running condition. Which yours is not quite in.
So don't run more power until you get this sorted out. You're still pulling too much timing for a stock map. Yes the ECU will save the motor from detonation by pulling timing instantly but this has the side effect of raising EGT for the affected cylinders, which is actually bad for your engine, unlike running MHD's fuel-appropriate flash. I don't know what could cause this. It's interesting that your middle cylinders don't pull timing but everything else tends to. Maybe you have a knock sensor issue. Or it's remotely possible the injectors are involved, but since it's so many cylinders and you're N55 that would seem unlikely. |
