Can you install 135i oil cooler on N51 128i

I was searching for 128i oil cooler installation. I came across a YouTube video. This dude said 135i oil cooler won’t fit N51 128i, but N52 is ok. If so, what options do we have for us N51 people.

2 piece Oil cooler housing

And fittings
Make sure to have proper ducting to radiator otherwise it’s a waste

It can fit on the N51... someone on here or e90post did it.. there was something that had to be bent slightly to make space, like an A/C line or something due to the secondary air pump being in the way of the normal path (if I recall correctly).

In that case, I might remove the secondary air pump. Thanks

You can also install the oil to water heat exchanger pretty easily.

Since I already bought all the parts for a 135i oil cooler retrofit, I’ll go with that path. Had I know there is a heat exchanger option, I would have gone down that path first.

Also, for those who did the 135i oil cooler, how do you air flow on the 128i to cool the oil cooler? The 135i has an opening on the lower right corner of the front bumper. But the 128i doesn’t have that opening.

Photos will be helpful.

Most people have an 128i Msport that have the 135 bumper already installed. Then they just buy the appropriate pieces to make the oil cooler duct functional.

I only have a sport with the base front bumper which is a big part of the reason I went with a custom cooler to the lower center grille opening.

I have the 135 oil cooler on my 128 as well. N52. for the cooling ducts I have the bmw performance bumper so just bought the plastic scoops to direct air to the oil cooler when they were still available.
