Have you looked throught the 'Aftermarket wheels' thread yet in this section? They have uncovered a huge number of wheels in there - and generally have pix of them.

FWIW, if you can put a wheel and tire combo on that weigh less than stock wheels & tires, you'll probably not suffer from it too much. Heck since it comes stock with run flat tires (with ultra-stiff sidewalls), I wouldn't be surprised that a 30 or 25 profile tire on a 20" rim wouldn't be all that much stiffer!
Look guys, I'm not big on CF nick-nacks, bling, or a lot of other things you can do to a car. But then I'm not everybody else or anybody else for that matter, I'm just me - when it comes to taste, I have my own (unless my wife objects ; -). |

I was told I could never get 20s on my a6...but I did with no modifying or rubbing. just mind your rim and tire width and stick with a 25 or 30 series tire. not the choice many addicts would recommend but it would look hot and be pretty unique. Just my .02

What I think a lot of people answering to this post are trying to point out is that the look you are trying to achieve would be better in a 335i or even in any of the MB models within the same price range of the 1 series.. I personally wouldn't go for 20's b/c of safety reasons, you wouldn't have much of a tire sidewall which could compromise the rims you spent so much money on to begin with; whether you are doing performance driving or simply cruising down the strip. Small potholes, curb rash, even small bumps could slowly damage your wheel/suspension over time, this might not be covered under warranty. As a good example of this, you could check some of the e46 M3 forums in which some members with 20in wheels <with a bigger tire sidewall than the 135 would have> were having issues with their strut bars breaking/cracking due to the stress the wheels put on the suspension/body of the car, <members that did not track their cars, just doing regular driving>. Now if you want wheels with a nice decent lip/staggered look, how about BBS LM's in 18-19s. They are strong, very good quality, they are sporty yet they compliment the look of the car rather than make it look gaudy (You'd want to attract attention, just not the wrong kind  ) . Finally, they go with BMW's like cookies and milk and they are lighter than other wheels within the same size range. Hope this helps, just my opinion...

I noticed those breytons recommend 235/30/20 for the 1er...thats the same size wheel and tire I'm running on my a6 which can be seen in the for sale section of this forum if you want an idea how much sidewall you'd be workin with.
