I know people have done this size before, but this is quite an aggressive fitment for a 1. It may require fender roll and/or camber to fit a decent size tire, so maybe Tirerack didn't want to list it as fitting the car (the normal user may not realize the consequences of changing size/offset of the wheels). I'm aware others may have wheels with an 8.5 et40 on their car, but it will be a tight fit. If you are set on the Kosei, look up a 335i w/0 sport package and you should see the Kosei K1. Good luck!

This is what we have:

15x8 ET 22
16x7 ET 42
17x8.5 ET 40

IIRC, someone tried the 16" for a drag set up and they didn't clear the brakes...can't remember if it was front or rear.

The rear caliper protrudes more than the front, by a few mm.

Btw, Terry Burger of burgermotorsports has run the 17" Kosei K1's on his 135i.. specifically for drag radials. He's posted about it on N54tech.com. You might want to take a look there.
