I used RTV silicon. I'm getting ready to swap the pop rivets with some allen bolts. The joint will get a bead of caulking.

Have fun... and rebuild it again after we roll it in a couple of years. As you know, I've got the spinning down. It's time to work on rolls.

Here the final vent install and the test fit on the vent scoop.

Here's the front crossmember nearly reassembled with an STi steering rack, STi A-arms, and a Perrin 25 mm swaybar. I've also got the steering knuckles ready to go on but the ball joints have to be pulled out of them first.

The car moved onto jack stands today, the front and rear cross members went in and the coilovers were bolted in. Motor building is planned for the morning.

Love the straight-forward adjustability of that set-up. Being not too familiar with rally car specs, does that setup allow for greater suspension travel?

It's looking really good though, Mike!!! Love all of these updates.

This setup won't add any suspension travel. I'm not sure what may be picked up with a set of DMS or Ohlins coilovers that were designed for rally use. The budget won't allow for that yet. The current set up will be great for AX and work for rallycross and hillclimbs.

Engine building went poorly yesterday. The cams bound in the first head that we put on, before the caps were torqued. These were the heads off of the $250 motor. So, we've got to switch to the other set of heads, the ones that came off the blown up motor that this car was originally bought to replace. We know the heads are good but we've got to do the valves in them first. By the time that everything is cleaned up and we've got the needed parts, we may get back to engine building next weekend.

The motor is more or less together... heads, cams and oil pan. I'm waiting on the high volume oil pump to show up before I go much further.

Damn shiney block you got going on there, Mike! Looks great! You gonna skip using the M3 at AX next season, in lieu of taking that out on the runways?

That shiny block is a brand new short block from Subaru. A trip to the machine shop could make one of the other two blocks serviceable. But, the trip to the machine shop would cost more that the new short block and there would always be a question about it after having a cracked cylinder liner.

No, the M will still be there, especially after putting money into the square tire setup. Tom is going to join the club for next year and we'll have both cars there. In the meantime, I think we need an early test 'n tune day... hint hint
