Sticky dash button
I've noticed that the "auto" button on the HVAC is sticking. Possibly due to PO spilling something on it. What would be the best way to clean around the button?

Alcohol dripping from a cotton Q-tip around the edges of the button applied liberally over time should help, depending on the severity of the spill, liquid contents and stickiness. I typically opt for the strongest stuff available, 91% isopropyl in my case. I haven't found it to be harmful to any of the plastics in small quantities when I did the same thing to free-up stuck buttons on the steering wheel of my first 135i. However, as I said, I had to repeat the process a few times over a few months for the problem to be solved, along with frequent use of the buttons.

Takes two minutes to remove the panel. Then you can bring it inside and clean it properly so it works like brand new. Replacement button kits are inexpensive if your's are worn looking or scratched up...

Is there a thread anywhere that shows exactly how to detach all of the wiring? I was pulling on one and I didn't want to break it, so I just set the panel aside with wiring attached and worked on the radio. How does the back plate come off of the bezel? Is it screwed in or does it snap in? |

I recall detaching the cables to be pretty straight forward- there are some pics in this post- https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1330204
The case is just held together with a bunch of tabs- hardest thing was getting the first few started, after that it pretty much fell apart.
