Went on realoem and found you need part 51167135455 - Console Insert, rear for the cover plate to anchor in (Part 14 on the diagram). Otherwise the cover just kind of floats and gets pushed out by the carpet.

Happy with the mod. Looks clean and the squeaking is gone!
Ordering this part now. I've had the AR delete for a while now, but the panel not being very secure has always bothered me. This should solve that.

Thanks for sharing!

Now you have to get rid of those clear plastic floor mats and get some weather tech! lol

I think about adding a SSK frequently though, might add one soon.

Here are a few more shots after adding the Koomus CD phone cradle and going completely wireless with a hidden charger when the iPhone 7 battery gets low. All the input connections are plugged in, but fully hidden away under the center console so no wires are showing.
Hi! What is the app? An OBD checking system?

I've got the arm rest delete panel in my collection of parts but have yet to install it.

Part No. 51167135455, the rear console insert is interesting. Isn't this part in place whether you have an arm rest or the delete panel itself? I had the back of the arm rest taken apart on my 2011 135i and am pretty sure I saw it back there. Perhaps some of you removed it when you took the arm rest out?

I cannot believe this... the cover (part no. 51169110474 for black) will now cost you $85-$90. Looks like I have to deal with my creaky-ass armrest for now.

Crazy $$ for a 6x6 piece of black plastic. I still bought one because I have always hated that useless always in my way squeaky arnrest.
