Key Fob

Here is my key fob story. I used to have an 05 E90, sold it but forgot to give back 1 key. A few months later I bought a used 128i which only had 1 key fob. I take the car to the dealer and ask them to program the fob and order me a manual key that sticks into the fob. They said my extra fob cannot be programmed into the 128i and the cost of getting a replacement key fob is $395 + $175 for the key + $65 for programming. Shit that is $635 for a spare key. Any suggestions?

Do you have comfort access? That price is rough either way.

Search eBay for BMW remote. Their key fob is $38 at key star. But you have to program at the dealer. The electronics are refurbished. Not many others out there. My 2008 135i key is same FCC NUMBER. Check yours. Good luck.

Damn stealer price, no comfort access. Why does BMW make things harder for the individual. On my 325i it was the battery you could not buy an aftermarket battery because the charging system is controlled by the ECU blah blah blah and the BMW battery here on Guam was $200+ and they charged $65 to match it to your battery.

yeah I came accross the refurbished one it like it was reflashed or something I'll check it out. They should let us send our old one and refurbish that kinda like a core exchange...

If your car doesn't have comfort access the key doesn't require programming. It does have to be made by BMW though. The ones you see on eBay will not work

Yeah, it's dumb that key fobs are exceptionally expensive. I guess they can charge whatever they want when you need a key to access your car.

True, they should make their money on other things not keys
