That, in combination with BMW eliminating European delivery, means my next car is a Porsche. For the wife, probably a Macan to replace her hatchback, and for me eventually maybe a Cayman, but for now I'm still loving my F87.

It's interesting to see that as time passes BMW has been looking for economies in places that increasingly bother me at the same time my income is increasing and I'm willing to go upmarket. I'm sure lots of people are happy to continue to buy BMW for the badge, or will buy BMW for the first time because of the badge and won't notice or care about materials quality. But for me, that stuff matters and I guess it's time to move upmarket—a funny thing to be saying moving away from BMW, but there it is.
I don't know, the quality of the G2X interior is noticeably better than my F36 - not going to even try to defend it. I think BMW did a way better job with the G2X interior than it did with the F3X which off the bat was already questionable vs the E9X.

That hood is a masterpiece. Beautiful design work.

Edit: Note minute 4:35. Does the door glass still move when handle is actuated?

Why do they persist with elephant testicle leather in the top spec non M 2er?

At least the M2CS has nice smooth leather, feels nicer and looks way more upmarket. BMW, check the competition, Merc and Audi don’t do this stuff.

The Queen specifies "elephant testicle leather" for all nations still under the crown.

Huge huge improvement in looks over F2X.
This purple is a great color too!

Wish these came in manuals—a big loss.

In today's world you gotta pay more to get the best BMWs like the 7, 8 series and the CS models, M8s, M5s and so on.

Looks pretty good, many design elements reminiscent of Bmw's of the past so it looks very familiar but at the same time quite modern. It will certainly look even better in person. Pity it won't be available in stick shift and here in Aus we most probably won't get the RWD version. That interior really does look good in the 2 series.

Still don't love the taillights, but overall it's growing on me.

The M2 with a 6MT, hopefully, should be another great car. Will be interested to see real world weight figures.

I was actually lucky enough to see this up close at Goodwood, and it is much nicer in the flesh. I've got an appointment for next week with my local BMW dealer to spec a M240i.

It has the Hofmeister Kink, beautiful. The rear lights and back design … disaster. But what I lament the most is the loss of the front 4 halos and light dynamics, in the past you looked in the mirror on the autobahn and you knew to move over since it is a BMW. And on the Highway. Or l'autoroute etc. Hofmeister, the 4 lights and for M the quad exhaust, that's BMW purity since I have been around for quite some time. In-line 6, manual transmission, etc is fantastic. All BMWs look the same inside now though.

Your last sentence is wrong. BMWs do not look alike anymore. Would you now ever mistaken this Gx m240i for a 3 series? One series? No

And here it is. Looks ok, but not sure about the weird wheel arch extensions on the M240i.

I might buy one of these when I retire and be really annoying chatting about the in-line 6 whilst everyone complains about their Shrinking battery capacity

I like the look of the interior and the rear end but doesn't the front kinda look like a Kia stinger?

finally a well done BMW. The new 4 series front already is looking dated in my opinion, and this traditional front by BMW is welcomed. There is nothing wrong in sticking to traditional design with slight modification to the car to keep it current without huge dramatic changes like that on the 4er.
Thank you BMW for listening!
