I apoligize in advance for my ig'nance, but WTF are "Hoosiers" :iono:
I'm assuming they're a type of racing tire? Haven't had any experience on the track, and I'd think there are others here that are curious as well. Thanks!

Heh.. I'd love to if I didn't have to move this weekend. On the plus side, my new place has a driveway so the 1er will no longer have to suffer the indignity that is street parking. Will you be at the autox in September?

The links are good enough but I guess we could add the warning for dramatic effect:
Quote:
WARNING: DOT labeled Hoosier Racing Tires meet Department of Transportation requirements for marking and performance only and are NOT INTENDED FOR HIGHWAY USE. It is unsafe to operate any Hoosier Racing Tire, including DOT tires, on public roads. The prohibited use of Hoosier Racing Tires on public roadways may result in loss of traction, unexpected loss of vehicle control, or sudden loss of tire pressure, resulting in a vehicle crash and possibly injury or death.

I am not sure about the event on the 21st. It will be a few days after Nats, so it depends if my ego is too big or too bruised.

How about this, you do your move and I'll keep an eye on your car for the day.:eyebulge:

He is sort of local and asked me if he could get some seat time at the Boston Chapter event yesterday, which I was happy to have him there. Great guy.

Anyway, those of you who know him, he's like THE Hoosier Pimp. Rachel and I gave him some seat time, both behind the wheel and passengering, to get a feel for the cars.

It wasn't long before Matt broke out the Hoosier crack and mounted some on my car. The acceleration difference is amazing. Launching 275/35/18 full race rubber, compared to my pretty sticky Dunlop Star Specs was impressive.

As I mentioned in another thread, I had the following tires on the car with NO SPACERS. 2004 18" ZHP wheels:

F 18x8 ET47 245/40/18
R 18x8.5 ET50 275/35/18

Keep in mind that 275 Hoosiers are freaking huge. Larger than a regular 275. They fit without the slightest tiniest bit of rubbing. I have rolled my fronts, but there was a lot of room for a wider tire up front than the 245. Don't ask me how. It just does.

Here's some pics, pimping some Hoosier purple signage too. My buddy, Miguel works for HMS Motorsport, and is nuts, as you can see in one of the pics.

Hi Larryn,
I've got your own wheels:

ET47 18x8 F
18x8.5 ET50 R

In your opinion, so there are no problems with your tires the same size Hoosiers (in my case Dunlop slick 245/650-18)?
In front, there is enough space inside to the shock absorber?

I have about 2.5 degrees of camber front/rear and Bilstein PSS10 .

Thank's and i'm sorry for my terrible English

larryn,

I recently bought a 2008 white 128i. I am upgrading from my old 2000 E46 328ci, which had the same ZHP rims. I'd like to put my old ZHP rims on my new 128i, and I'm glad to see this combo looks pretty awesome. I am wondering if you experienced any issues with the ZHP rims on the 135i? I am pretty sure that all four of my rims are the same size, 245/40/18, and not staggered. Was hoping to hear back from you soon! Thank you!
